The town has the watermill, the paths look the same, the whole show gives off the same kind of feel to it, the suspension bridge Keiichi got through off is there, there are similar looking fields or at least a little bit similar, and I think the waterfall and pond where the bacteria came from is there too. I haven't watched Higurashi in a while but I am pretty darn sure they are the same town.

it definitely looks very similar, bu i suppose alot of rural vilages hav similar landmarks. This town seems to be hiding something too, like in Higurashi

It should be different...
The bloody-thingies happened in higurashi is set at a village named ''Hinamizawa'' during showa period.
Whereas H2O's village wasn't mentioned of it's name,''Takuma and his uncle move from the city out into a rural area and Takuma is enrolled into a new junior-high school'',is pretty much we know about the village he's in,a rural area.

Comparing the backgrounds and landscapes you can get from H2O to Higurashi, you'd find lots of differences...I mean the schools and all are different...mountains and valleys.....but then again, things could change since they seemed to be set on different time zones.
Of course, most of the scenes might have the same flash of looks and stuffs(The Bridge For Instance)...but they should be different...the ones which produced H2O and the ones which produced Higurashi might have took the same village as an example for their plot...But "Hinamizawa" Is just spectacular and one of it's kind, don't you agree >.<?....so yea,we won't know..There're just too many possibilities @@...

Lastly...Uhm...don't worry..H2O's not all that gory and violent ^^"....infact,it's just nicely done...but i can still find nothing in comparison with higurashi T____T....
