My cousin did. I don't know how her parents reacted since I wasn't there and we don't talk much.

My friend came out to her parents and they chucked her out of the house. Not only was that horrible, but it was odd considering they weren't even religious. I'm straight but...Gosh I wouldn't do that if I had a gay child!

I've come out to everyone I know. I mean, not aquaintances, that'd be odd. It'd be like: Hey, my name's Noah I'm bisexual...

Since I kind of live in my own little world I never really realized coming out was such a big deal. At least not as Bisexual since it doesn't restrict you to loving one gender. I casually told my friends, my sister and my mom at different points in time when the subject came up. I don't recall saying it to my dad or my brother. No, now I recall telling my brother... I might have told my dad, I don't remember it though. I always did it in passing.

I only realized later that I could be considered a rare specimen for putting so little importance into my revelation.

For an entire year she kept it a secret. After she told one friend, she felt much more comfortable and told me. After that the rest of her friends. You have to build up to it. She hasn't told her family yet. I was the second person she told. She wanted to get real drunk before she told me anything. I've known her for almost 8 years. For her to want to get drunk to tell me upset me a lot. She can tell me everything and I would never judge her. Especially since we've been friends for so long.

But I can understand where she's coming from. It's just real hard coming out. Everyone can easily tell you
"it's ok. Tell them, don't worry. Everything will be fine eventually" but you really need to think thoroughly before you tell anyone. Some people can take it, others can't. How you tell someone and present yourself with it is also very important. If you're not ready to tell anyone, then don't.

Especially if it's your parents. Really think it through. Don't tell anyone who you know won't be able to take it. Start off with someone you can trust, who will accept you no matter what. Then build up by telling another person who's like that. What ever you do, don't tell the wrong person. That will kill it for you.

Because they're ashamed, or they don't know how to deal with it or accept it...Or maybe they feel like they've failed in a way...I don't know.

I really dont see whats to be ashamed about it, its only a prefrence =C there should be no reason for parents too think so ill of there child just because there prefrence is with the same gender, its not gonna kill anyone for liking the same gender >.> I dont get homophobes

I was passing by and saw this one on the main page, so I decided to post something... *not a forums person*

As far as I can tell, I'm one of the rare specimen who goes like "Woah, that guy is cute!" then the friend beside me goes like "WTH?! Are you gay?!?" "Hun? Sorta, I'm pansexual" then I have to explain what a pansexual is.... And for those who doesn't know, pansexual is a person who likes everything, it's still debated what "everything" covers, but I got more then half of the known paraphilias (and there's thousands of them).

Regardless, most people don't really believe me and think I'm exagerating, so I leave it like that. (The "WTH?!? Are you gay!?!?" already came out of the same person twice)
