I told my mom and she brushed it off like she knew. Sometimes I think she blocks it out of her head. She's said some homophobic shit around me, so I suspect she forgot I told her. I don't think I would tell my dad ever, unless I was planning on bringing a girl over, which would happen unless we'd been together for a long time. I don't know if he'd accept it, he's gotten more liberal, down-to-earth, and laid back over time, but apparently he's still religious and has some of his old, closed-minded tendencies. My brother and sister know and don't care.

People tend to find out quickly if they say anything against GLBT rights/community/marriage/individuals... because I will speak up. Otherwise, people can infer it from the things I say and do.

Damn lol I know what you mean. My mom can "sense" if a person is gay or not lol. My mom doesn't approve of being gay, but she doesn't hate on them; my father hates on them and doesn't approve of it >_>

Lol yeah and mine. My Dad is quite homophobic aswell which is really sad, because when he found out he was just like "omg" but I was just like "Dad stfu, a) You're a complete homophobe, grow up its the world we live in and b) Its called experimentation, doesn't mean I'm gay." that shut him up! Weird thing is, if my Bro did something like that with a guy he'd kick him out!

i really feel for those who are burdened by stringent cultural values..

even worse if a nation considers it a sin (i.e. in jamaica, homosexuals are often ridiculed & beaten mercilessly)

Shut the fuck up you will make up your mind on day. You're either gay or straight. Being bi is just a cry for attention that a lot of teenage girls due.

Being bi-sexual isn't "a cry for attention" as it is acutally possible to like both genders. Though I always beleived that when you are bi-sexual that it isn't 50/50 and that you like a specific gender more than the other 60/40(IMO).

Also that was extremely rude... >_>

Anyway, I've always known I was gay ever since I was young and my parents easily accepted it when I told them.

hmmm I kind of did.

I told my brother and the conversation went kind of like this.....

" I like girls"
" oh... good you settled in your new school "
" No I like girls in a love sort of way"
" Sure friends are great'
"I want to kiss and make out with girls"
" uha ...do you want hot chocolate because I'm going to stop at Tim Hortons maybe get a sandwich too."
" Are you trying to make this go away?"
" So is that a yes for the hotchocolate?"
" I ment it"
" Well....Thats not normal."

yeah =C if this was really a "cry for attention" I'd be bragging and consistently telling everyone about me. I haven't told some certain friends about me because they were raised to believe its wrong to be homosexual, pan, or bi and I wanna wait till I know for sure if they'd still accept me or not, it took me till I was in high school to come out too 2 best friends of mine, and slowly other friends(they all dont know yet) and lastly, I havent told anyone in my family but one cousin, >.> the rest don't know(they might suspect it =P) yeah ^,^ Im sure an attention whore awright!

I don't mean about parents, but about friends, is it really worth to hide it? I mean, if they are real friends, they should like you the way you are. Well, actually, once you have a job and can take care of yourself, I guess that counts even for parents.

Sorry if that sounds too idealistic, I'm just sort of a straight-foward person, most of the times, I can make people dislike me without they even get to know I'm gay, the ones who can stand me all the way to that usually don't care.
I guess it would be a problem if people start spreading this around tho, so I don't recommend this attitude to anyone with a bigger social life then half a dozen friends.
