i could really care less how the main character looks, if youre only watching anime just because the characters look cool then youre not watching the show. might as well watch a slideshow of characters instead of wasting your 30 mins on a story youre not even paying attention to

Why? Do you find it unusual when a lot of the anime characters look white, when anime is based on Japanese culture? I personally get mad as HELL when the characters are white or have white features and I'm black. I want to see Asian characters only because it's based on Asian culture. If there has to be, or the creators choose to include other races I EXPECT them to portray the characters respectfully and correctly. My lips are not extremely lighter than the rest of my skin tone, WTF is that!

Jungle wa Itsumo Hale nochi Guu features mostly dark-skinned characters. Most pictures of the series tend to be of Guu, otherwise I'd point to the Crunchyroll info page.

It’s no surprise that there is a very small amount of black, or multi-racial characters in most anime, however, lately I have been thinking what if an anime was created where most the main characters were black, instead of being side-character who usually don’t have the spotlight.
Do you feel an anime like this would attract the attention of most anime fans, or only mainly attracted the attention of black anime fanatics? Or would it simply cause too much controversy? I am currently in the process of creating an anime with black main characters and test this theory.
How well do you predict such an anime would become in popularity?

There aren't very many blacks in Japan. That's why manga-ka in Japan don't write and draw black characters very often.

We have yet to have a "Spike-Lee-of-anime-and-manga", so there is no telling at this point if an all-black anime or manga would sell. It might have a shot in the U.S. But I'm not so sure about Japan.
