So you know card game anime (Yu-Gi-Oh!, Cardfight!! Vanguard, Duel Masters, etc.), they do fairly well in Japan, but in the USA, they pretty much just flop (Except Yu-Gi-Oh! which became huge, and stayed huge for a few years). Why is it they flop here?

I don't know for sure, but my wild guess is b/c they're viewed as more of the same or too similar to Yu-gi-oh. I never liked YuGiOh.

Much of the time, the card game the Anime is based on doesn't come over here. Card game Anime is meant to be a big advertisement for whatever card game comes out. If the actual card game never makes it over here, what is there to get excited about? Also, just because something is big in Japan, it does not mean that the show will do well here. (See "Detective Conan" aka "Case Closed" "Crayon Shin-Chan," "Hajime no Ippo" aka "Fighting Spirit" etc. All of these shows epically bombed in the US, but did rather well/is doing well in Japan). It seems that darker, mature-oriented shows that don't do well in Japan are more popular over here whereas card game Anime, comedies and slice-of-life shows do better in Japan.

..............well it takes time and money to do this, there is marketing the games to a certian age group, deciding to release the anime or not and so forth. it's really a pain to do so since anime is hardly on t.v. any more and there is little to market room for any more card games since yu-gi-oh is still selling pretty well. I will say this nearly every main stream anime in japan has some sort of a card game.

because america isn't too into anime as japan is, so it's almost felt like a rip off of yu-gi-oh and a lot of people will feel it's oo kiddish or something -shrug- thats my guess
