Why does CR not have a rule for pointless, annoying threads? This is why there's almost no respectable discussions going on.

20 to 25 years ago this would have been a valid question.

At the time it seemed that the number of girls using the internet was so small, that they were all known by name.

As I said in an earlier post, a lot has changed since 25 years ago. That was when, for example, cell phones looked more like wwII feild radios, weighed a ton, and were only for wealthy and pretentious yuppies.

The Cold War was still on. You probably don't remember that.

WWW... what?

and the only people who had recreational access to the internet (let alone the nacescent world wide web) where college age computer nerds. I invite you to imagine how many of THEM were girls 25 years ago.

Hey buddy, guess what? It's 2011, not 1990. Shhhh, don't tell anyone though!
The OP did not ask about the past, it's a thread posted to get attention, hence, it is still not a valid question. I could go into a three paragraph story about how women in the workplace were rare, or women that didn't stay home watching kids and doing laundry were deviants. Should I post a thread asking if there are really any girls going to work today? By your logic, it WOULD be a valid question.

I just think it was in interesting point of conversation. An accepted fact of my early internet experience was that every 'girl' you met online was a guy in RL. It was certainly the safer assumption than taking a stated or roleplayed gender at face value.

There is still a lot of gender swapping online in MMOs and in other games such as Second Life. The reasons given are myriad.

The OP might have been dumb but the topic could have been interesting. And I don't see what I said in my first post in this chain to earn your contempt and sarcasm.

As for my so called time bubble, just you wait youngling, your turn will come.
