AnimeNewsNetwork has a link to the YouTube video of Cat Shit One' first episoded (obviously, it's the "censored" version to get people to buy the "real" version). Outside of porn anime, anime doesn't really have titles with swear words in it (there are some like Bastard). So, how one gets this across FCC/censorship groups with a title like that is what my question is? While Americanizing the titles of anime is debatable, I think this one calls for attention.

Why not just put "Crap" instead of "Shit" (I recognize that I swear but I make to do it around people who aren't as sensitive to hearing such words)? Both are swear words but "crap" is more of a PG-rated word whereas "shit", to me, is a strong PG to PG-13 level word. Of course, you put the f--- in there and it's an automatic PG-13.

For me, I enjoy the title "Apocalypse Meow" more because that's the title the manga was billed in America as.

Is it really censored? ANN's top-level page has the expletive "bleeped" in the link title, presumably to make the page safe for browsing at work or other similar places (?), but it's spelled out completely in the article itself. The video doesn't seem to be censored either.

I'm thinking the FCC doesn't have jurisdiction over the Internet, including ANN and YouTube and Amazon, with regards to profanity. This video is also probably directed towards a small niche market (and no one would mistake it for children's entertainment), and likely beneath the notice or radar of various censorship groups. I'd guess most brick-and-mortar stores will not display the DVD and its title out in the open (if they even carry it), but this likely won't hurt sales among the intended audience who'll watch and order it online or in the privacy of their own homes.

They don't use the word crap cause it just don't sound right in that specific title. Cat Shit One does sound better then Cat Crap One. And it does tend to lean more to an adult audience then a children's. Just cause there is bunnies in it, don't mean that kids should be watching it.

I don't think that shit is even listed as a censored word any more. It has been used on t.v. freely already.
