Earlier from this week, the Guitar Hero series has been cancelled. That also includes the DLC songs. And this is the biggest news for Guitar Hero fans. Well, they have been around since 2005 and it doesn't feel like it's been around for that long. I was also a little shocked hearing about this too. I thought they might go on for a while, but now Guitar Hero doesn't even have a hero anymore. Guitar Hero 3 was their highest selling game in the series. It has made over $1 billion dollars in sales! That was back in 2007. Guitar Hero started pretty good, until after Guitar Hero 3. Some of the games were good, while others were not. I can't believe it has already ended! Guitar Hero, you will be missed.. I guess we will still play Rock Band, right?. So how do you guys feel about this? Answer in the comments below! *also if this was already posted, please lock it. Thank You

finally something i can agree with you on. I liked the whole concept on the game, but there was no reason to release a new game for every band out there. That's what "expansion packs" and "dlc" is for.

That's quite a surprise. Well, sorry to hear that the series dropped out of the video game industry. I thought it was still quite popular.

I never got into the Guitar Hero series though... The only music-related game that I own is the Beatles Rock Band. :)
Anyway, I have rather poor memories of Guitar Hero (back when Guitar Hero 2 was just released). I remembered the days in college where I would be up until 3:00AM, hearing residents "rocking out" on the game with the volume way up, all while screaming profanities and such whenever they messed up in the game.

The series stopped being good after GH3. I hope Rock band won't follow suit.

..Guitar hero needed to die.
GH, GH2, GH3, and GH Metallica were good the rest sucked pretty much.

DJ Hero 1 WAS AMAZING DJ hero 2......NO.

although we all knew this would happen someday.

After the first couple of games, i just went ahead and bought a guitar. I doubt they'll permanantly end the series though. There's still a pretty big demand for music games.

good riddance, each competing company did it to death and did not do it as well as it could have been done, honestly again all out for the money -____- maybe the lack of competition will bring about a better game in this area. being extremely optimistic? f to the yeah

And I still now how to play Lay Down and it really opened my mind in music. Thanx to that game I learned that I love 70's and 80's metal! n,...,n!!! Metal is the law!!! RIP guitar hero![/color]

Let's hope everyone starts going on real adventures with groups of friends while really leveling up, or goes to have a real street fight with trained martial artists, or goes to fight a real war in the real Middle East. XD

Seriously though, Guitar Hero shot itself in the foot by being there too damn much. Every year we had a Guitar Hero, and once they said "oh yeah, we're doing an epic fantasy story for the next game," we'd just about had enough. Rock Band only comes around when it has something new to bring to the table, and its massive song library gives literally everybody something to enjoy. Despite its huge decline in popularity, I can see Rock Band sticking around for quite some time--just the fact that it doesn't constantly remind us of it at every opportunity is already a good thing.
