I say we need more Anime LIKE Darker than Black (the first season i mean)
No excessive fanservice
No stupid "with power of friendship"
No exceptions to death counts (hell cute ones tend to die often there)
And no more of this Moeshit i keep seeing in the media (except Madoka, that show is like Evangelion the magical girl series, watch it guys.)

No we need more animated series like Monster and any other works by Naoki Urasawa. Puts Death Note to shame in the psychological department.

No we need More anime like BLAME! (done right this time the OVA poorly represented it)
That concentrates on atmosphere and tells a thousand words without saying anything at all.
So yeah Nihei Tsutumo for the f*** mothering win!

I got to thinking a bit a good school anime is Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and Preface. Never before have I have ever seen such beattiul artwork or fluid animation for this type of genre. With that I am out of this trhead

Is it just me or does all the anime released so far this year center around school! I dunno about the rest of you guys But what the hell are the teachers of these schools doing when all these kids are fighting ( aka beelzebub) and whats with all the protagonists all non cholant about their roles/abilities in their respective animes?
why is it that alot of them focus more on stupid fan service rather than quality story lines? whats with the little nudity or soft core fan service that gets the guys nosebleeds or turns them all red like its that big a deal?
I'm seriously tired of shitty animes that make u feel like ur supposed to be 7-11 years old to actually want to enjoy. its like more animes these days are just rip-offs of each other and lack creativity even though the graphical aspect of the show is superb
lets review the school animes
Freezing
Beelzebub
GOSICK
InfiniteStratos
Loups Garous
Dragon Crisis
Kore wa zombie desuka
out of these listed above They are all centered around school.. middle-high school to be precise and not college.. i don't want to imagine some 15 yr old protagonist who looks like they should be 10 saving the world or getting slapped around by some dragon or bad guy and they don't die Or better yet break out in hives ,get nose bleeds, turn red and pass out {insert more lame premature male response to female partial nudity here}.
i'm honestly waiting on the next anime to captivate me like bleach ( yes more school) but the fighting kicks some serious ass. if i'm looking for fan service why not just go watch porn, get laid or shit watch some hentai.

If you guys know any new or old animes that have substance (even if its about school) little to no fan service and is moderately longer than 12 episodes feel free to post or pm me about it.

I've noticed the sudden shift to more school anime in the last 2 seasons.

I agree with the fan service part. There are too many shows coming out of Japan that have fanservice with no plot to distract the international audience. And I've been watch anime since Starblazers in the 1970s! If you're going to add fanservice to your TV show, make a small plot that keeps me wondering if the protagonist will get to his/her goal, like Rio: Rainbow Gate. The Japanese have to learn that the we Americans already have tons of hyper-sexual stuff in our shows, We don't need excessive amounts of sex in our anime. If the Japanese want more money from American anime fans, bring us the legendary, original, smart, memorable shows.I wish to tell these Japanese creators to quit accusing us of piracy and bring on the good stuff that will sell in America. We vote with our money here. As an American consumer, I can definately say I only buy my favorites unlike Japanese otakus, who seem to have endless money to buy every anime on the market. Something like Milky Holmes or Rio won't be on my DVD shelf because they aren't re-watchable.

We Americans prefer the shows with complex characters and engaging storylines! We get enough dumb stuff in American shows. We don't want anime to be like mainstream American fare.

As for all you under-18 folks who are saying,"No! Don't complain about fanservice anime," I got news for all of you. All you American teens are protected from excessive sex stuff by your parents and other adults in your life. Any images those adults let you see are TAME, TONED DOWN versions of the stuff you will proabably be exposed to when you turn 18 and move out of your parents home. When you get bombarded 24/7 with fanservice-type images in American media as an adult, you'll get bored with the images very quickly. Anyways, I digress...

I'm extremely disappointed with this season's Crunchyroll simulcast. There are only four shows I look forward to every week (unlike previous seasons): Gosick, Wandering Son, Tagami Bachi Reverse, and Kaasan. In previous seasons, I saw 1-2 anime per day.

Well, if the Japanese anime don't produce any more good anime then I'll make my own. I'm studying to be an animator. Maybe I should make my own manga, but that could take awhile with my school schedule.

to sasuke it's proabably got to do with the fact that girls can marry at the age of 16 in japan with out parental consent and it also depends on the body type. Just because some says there 14-17 doesn't mean they look it, it is animation after all. There is a teacher in railgun/index that looks like she is 9 but she is 30. It dwells back on to the state of mind of people I suppose, I have suggested this before just look for and download/watch the censored broadcast. They usally censor out most of the stuff that you do not like which is why they put it in the dvd's/blurays for marketing and sale purposes because anime is expensive in japan "around 70-100 for a dvd or bluray with 2-3 epiodes a cd and or t-shirt" and the producers know who are going to buy there products which is why they do it. Other than that I don't really know what else to say, well I do the 1st animes that I ever watched hat had nudity was dragon ball and ranama 1 1/2

The main problem I have with the adult-woman-who-looks-like-if-she's-8 thing that seems so popular in Japan is this: The stuff isn't saleable in America thanks to the Protect Act of 2003. What is considered artistic in Japan could get an anime fan in trouble here in America. A judge and jury could automaticly convict a fan of child porn even if the sexualized character is an adult who looks like an 8 year old. As soon as they see a sex scene, the judge and jury would be too grossed out and consider it "obscene". They're not going to consider the creator's original artistic idea. Most of the racy sex scenes and hentai depicting young-looking charactes (esp. loli and incest stuff) falls into the category of "lacking serious value" under U.S. law. So far there have been 4 people who have been convicted under the Protect Act. You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_status_of_cartoon_pornography_depicting_minors#United_States

One of these days, these Japanese producers, anime-ka, and manga-ka will have to realize that this style of fanservice and hentai is causing the anime/manga medium to lose money in the U.S.

Here is my question: It's only the first season of the year, so why are all you making this notion that all of this year's stuff is repeative when not even half of it has aired yet?

You should check out the list of Spring shows. There's a lot of promise.

completely agreed,
Darker Than Black gave us some great action scenes and didn't have moments completely devoted to fanservice.
