also anyone else starting to get tried of animes that put in nerdy references just to be nerdy,
I mean sooner or later the definition of if something is nerdy or not is going to get blurred.

........one the reasons Chrisy handly also got in to trouble was because the fact that he broke a law to where it's acutally illegal to order porn through the mail from other countries. Listen I am not going to sugar coat it nor am I going to lie I like loli and shota and that's not going to change i am nothing no body says other wise will either. I know this is way off subject of what the op is talking about but sometimes I just hate hiding behind my computer and not telling anyone. Most in your last post is your opinion i have never mind nudity or fan service at all the main reason anime is not as popular or is losing money because it's not mainstream anymore it was just a "fad" in the states. anime, manga has been and will always be an niche market for a select few of people and that's not going to change any time soon to be fair i don't even tell most people about my hobbies or life because to be frank it's none of their business. I enjoy what I enjoy and If i ever get in trouble in trouble for it believe me I am not going down with a damn fight. what I meant by your last post is your last paragraph on the bottom

You just don't have to watch them all. And some of those you mentioned don't "center" around school. In Dragon Crisis the school was only shown in the first episode till now. I watch 3 of the new anime this spring and I don't see anything bad on them. Actually, two involve fighting and only one is focused on school live. Like I said: If you don't like school, then just don't watch them. There is enough other good stuff out there.

lol @AsuraCryin not hating on them just the creativity or context in which they are used.
we get the cuteness factor in most but when they try to make a guy who looks like he should be at work behind a desk crunching numbers fall in-love with a girl who looks like she's 8 is very weird.

I joined this site just now ( I use another friends account for Premium) because I saw this.

I really must know WHY!? Why do they do things like that? It's not even right. XP

My opinion is shared, and I'm off to share more.

Most f those you mentioned don't center around school, but it's just logical for the characters to GO to school. And they are using a lot of fanservice in these, what's up with that?( not that I mind fanservice I just mind those that are unnecssary or take away plot)

Bleach had a plot? Ha ha!

And it us not a fad or trend if anything, it's nothing new. Naruto, bleach, haruhi, code geass, death note,Eva etc all had school at some point but most just didn't CENTER around school. Those that really center around school are k-on and lucky star(not gonna watch it for a while cz it Is SOOO boring!)

I've seen 691 animes, And I noticed 2009+ Started to focus alot of ecchi or highschool life that involves a strange event that gives them power or there born with power... Tho I don't agree with Gosick or Infinite stratos on your list, Those are the two animes this year I don't mind
And theres a good 23 animes coming out in april... So maybe you can find hope there?

I hate these animes that focus on Ecchi or fan service

Highschool of the dead I thought it could of been a great anime, But they focused on the ecchi there other then strengthening the plot.

given it's a zombie acoplayplse in real life there would be raping, killing pillaging and no care for anyone but your self and maybe your family. Alot of people got thrown off by it but hey it was still a really good series and one of the few I actually want to own on dvd/bluray.

When I first started watching anime, I didn't notice much fanservice. But it could be due to the type of anime I was watching. However, it does seem to me that the anime that is coming out recently is full of moe and fanservice. That is definitely NOT what got me into anime at all.

Well I thought it would of been better without all the ecchi ;/

Fine for me. I'll take whatever they throw at me and so far I'm enjoying all of the Winter series that I'm watching. Yes, some of them follow s particular trend with blatant fanservice, but ignoring that isn't so hard if it's not the focus of the episode.

It's not opinion. I'm currently enrolled in school as an Animation major. My school teaches about the current US law covering animation and expects all student to abide by US law, which is way stricter than the newly installed Tokyo extreme anime/manga ban.

To clarify, what I meant by fanservice is the stuff that goes WAY BEYOND the occassional panty shot and boob shot. I'm talking about shows like KissXSis, Kodomo no Jikan, and Onii-chan no Koto. Shows and manga like that aren't considered to have "serious value". What is "serious value"? To gain protection under the U.S. Constitution, questionable content must have either literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.

Anime like Perfect Blue and Oreimo, on the other hand, have [at the very least] political value because they comment on the socio-political issues like eroge otakuism controversy in Japan or the exploitation of performers in the film industry.

Real life porno magazines like Playboy, Playgirl, and Hustler is considered to have artistic and literary value because of how the photos are shot and the articles in the magazines. Cosmopolitan, the women's magazine, has articles that are considered to have scientific value. Informing women about sex stuff is considered scientific.

Anatomy books like Joseph Shepherd's Anatomy for artists are considered to have artistic value.

Basicly, alot of the imported Japanese hentai and fanservice doesn't fall under these definitions.

Loli and Shota obviously violate the age of consent law in this country. I'm not trying to condemn you or anyone whose into this stuff, but I do feel you (and other loli / shota fans) need to know what you're getting into.

For starters, you want to know why the American porno mags only have 18+ women in their stuff? It's because in some states the age of consent is 18 years, not 16 or 17. You can read more abou the age of consent laws here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_North_America#United_States

Violating US laws regarding obscenity and age of consent can land a person (including anime / manga fans) in jail with require registration into the Sex Offender database, like Dwight Whorely.

"Judge Paul V. Niemeyer of the of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals noted in the majority opinion that the statute under which Whorley was convicted, the PROTECT Act of 2003, clearly states that "it is not a required element of any offense under this section that the minor depicted actually exists." " (from http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,470524,00.html).

The fact that the current Supreme Court rejected Whorely's last and final appeal to them says that they (the Supreme Court) are upholding both the Protect Act and the opinion from the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Becoming a registered sex offender in America is worse than death because it can leave one homeless, jobless, being seen as sub-human (or as a monster), AND being attacked by vigilantes and vandals. There was one old lady sex offender near my home whose home was attacked daily by the people in the neighborhood. She was very depressed and cried almost everyday. There was another case in Seattle (about 25 miles away from my house), where a guy dressed up in Batman costume and killed 2 already convicted sex offenders. It wasn't right that they got attacked because they were already convicted. Unfortunately, some people feel the need to mistreat sex offenders.

NOTE: Chris Handley only got six months and no required registration in the Sex Offender database because he took a plea deal (confessed to the crime).

I get concerned when I see the questionble fan service in anime. I don't want to see anime / manga fans going to jail for buying the wrong item. Anyways, if the Japanese manga-ka / anime-ka want Americans to buy their stuff, they're going to have to make non-fanservice series to balance out the series that have tons of fanservice (like they've done in past seasons). I'm really hoping that there will be another memorable show like Cowboy Bebop or Full Metal Alchemist very soon. It's possible to make a show that sells itself on the basis of story instead of sexy fluff, and the past performance of the manga-ka / anime-ka proves it. I could excuse the habits IF the Japanese manga-ka were from Hollyweird, BUT the fact is they aren't from here. They can do better than the current half-a____ job I'm seeing this season.

Maybe you should watch "REBORN!" It's a little boring at first, but it gets SO much better later on, it was probably one of the best animes I've seen other than Bleach. Also have you seen Baccano or 07-Ghost? :0 They're both really good. ^-^ lol, sorry for short post.

HS is the best time of Japanese people's lives so of course they're going to reminisce about it in Anime. When they leave their close knit HS where they spend a majority of their time, it's more difficult to connect to others at work or outside of it.

However, some school Animes are pretty interesting. But it is a rather tired theme.
