I think it's ok to live with your parents. My cousin brothers are all married and have children of their own and yet they still live with their parents. My grandma is living with my uncle. As a matter of fact, it is required for the sons to take care of their parents and live with them (Chinese tradition).

As for me, I was planning to when I find a job and have a family of my own. When parents are old, they needed nothing more but care from their children and to be with them. What other ways than to have them live with us? Where are they going to live if otherwise? Old folks home? Everytime I come across that place, I feel sad for them and angry for their children who have abandoned them.

That being said, I believe the culture for every country/race is different. In US, leaving your parents and be independant is part of their culture while for Chinese, such act is highly discourage.

Just my two cents.

I agree with you, although it's not required for us to take care of our parents, I would still like to do it.

I personally don't find anything wrong with living with your parents at the age of 30, 40, or 50...
I think it's because in my family, we all have strong family ties. We like living with each other, we like being together, like the way my grandparents are living with us too.

Just because you are living with your parents doesn't mean that you are depending on them, or having them taking care of you.
It's actually the opposite.

As you get older your parents will get older, and then you realize that they have limitations as they age. So as their child, you would like to take care of them as they have taken care of you when you were a child.

well, if you're 30, and your parents have some serious health or other issues, then it's fine. but if they're okay, then you need to become independent.

I know that I'd never stay with my parent when I'm above 18 or so! Like hell I would!!

lol, you might say that now, but what about college? College kids aren't exactly known for having money; it's not uncommon for a parent to have their child(ren) move back in after college.

My aunt still lives with my grandpa, but that's only because she isn't married and my grandpa gets kinda lonely when he's alone so I think that's okay. But my aunt is the one who pays the rent etc.

...well... i dont think its right kind of shows that whoever does cant find independance... im sure my Dad would loooove me living with them forever but i would not live with them when i reach 30 >_>

I think at that age you should be prepared to control your own life and take care of your own responsibilitys (Like, getting a job, a house bla bla bla). I don't get why anyone would want to live with their parents for that long anyways. I can't bloody wait til I move out into my own house
