I'm just curious, I'm deaf and I found it hard to find a guy that I liked; especially when I was in high school. So I'm just wondering if you would date anyone who was deaf?

Well like J-J3LL08D said, there are pros and cons. It would be a lot more work of course, but i wouldn't mind something that I have to put in effort in order to have!

Without a doubt. I know a bit about sign language and deaf culture, so I'm sure it wouldn't take me long to get adjusted. I would want to start studying sign language, if that was their primary method of communication, immediately. I know a girl who is deaf that doesn't know sign language but is learning it, and she's been deaf for as long as I've known her (not sure if it it's since birth or not).

To me something like being deaf shouldn't matter. I'm not sure I could understand why it would.

My mother is a CODA (Child Of Deaf Adult), and works as a video interpreter. There is a very different environment in deaf education vs. hearing education. It's a lot more communal and people pick up on things a lot quicker with body language than you might find in a hearing environment.

I think when people are deprived of a primary sense, the others are amplified as a result. The mind isn't as diversified, so the remaining senses can be honed to better and more fine definition.

Interesting notes:

- American Sign Language has it's roots in French.
- French Sign Language and American Sign Language have many of the same signs, but they mean different things.
+ Example: A deaf French student is locked out of her dorm room, so she's calling security to open the door. American translation could be something like: A girl really needs to go to the bathroom, so is sitting in an Indian tepee. The security officer may be very confused.
- The Irish Sign Language sign for an American is *shooting with a machine gun, mowing over an area in front of them* ... makes you think what the deaf impressions were when the signs were created in the first place....

Yes of course! We can just write things down, it's not like it would make too much of a difference. Unless you're a discriminating bastard, then it can be.
