I'm assuming the video message could be about anything relating to Shinkai and his films. The most basic setup would be just telling him how much you like him and his films. Though there are some creative things you can do like make a set of videos in the format of those Japanese relationship video games (there's probably a short name for this) where the person can choose from some pre-made responses which then plays another clip in response.
