The sky. Sometimes just a view of the sky in the morning can bring inspiration, even if just for a moment.

everytime i can see people (especially filipinos) who can give their best smiles despite of some tragic and traumatic calamities , i really feel inspired.... they are really what we called ' a survivor'
many people in other countries can't do that.. many of them are always pressured in very easy things and get suicide as their solution....
so lucky to be pinoy....

I have a simple story about an old lady I used to know.

I had a bad falling out with my best friend in the world (at the time)... and we were no longer friends. The walk home from school is nearly a mile. I hated taking the bus. Well, the old route I used to take used to depress me. So I decided to walk a different way. It was nearly 5 blocks out of the way, but I didn't care at the moment. I walked this route for nearly a year.

When you walk the same way everyday, you notice people, animals, kids, etc. One of those days, I was walking home watching my feet and listening to a CD player (year long time ago x3) I seen a pine cone fly in front of me. I turned and there was an old lady standing next to her mail box. I took my earphones out and politely said hello. It wasn't like I didn't know she stayed there because she was one of the noticeable normals on my walks. She used to sit on her porch and drink tea... seemingly the same time every day. She would wave and smile, I would wave and smile back.

Well, she asked me if I would like a cookie. (I know, stranger danger.) But, I decided to trust her. I took the cookie and she asked if I could sit with her for a while. I agreed and started talking to her. She started to just tell me stories of her past, she gave advice, asked about my troubles. What I really liked about her stories was their validity. She told me, who cares if the story is true or not, it brightened your day didn't it? It was common place that I would spend about 30-40 minutes a day listening to her.

After a month, she passed away. On the chair where I normally sat, there was a cookie and a letter addressed to me. It was her last story and an explanation of why she wasn't there today. She wrote another story about her son and grandson's who used to stop by to listen to her stories. And she had thanks... for being friendly and kind enough to spend some of my day with her. For always showing her a welcoming smile even though she wasn't anyone I know.

I learned that the smallest acts of kindness, will always be remembered and appreciated. Be a bright light in your life. Smile and wave.

Small things like watching the rain, a really good drama, meet a new great person, help someone you don't know or just having candles around you while writing or drawing.

One moment in my life I'll never forget is that one day that I woke up late to school, feeling all crappy and sad, running to the bus with "I hate my life" playing a depressive melody in my head. On the bus I took my Mp3 and played some of my favorite songs as loud as I could and on the sky the sun was shining all warm. It wasn't that kind of white light as it use to be, but a more orange~ish light that made the trees and everything around me look all warm and colorful. It was autumn and all the trees was red, green and yellow. It looked amazing! So with that kind of surrounding and music in my ears my worries just died, like totally disappeared. Other feelings blowed up in me like a tornado, I felt hope, strength, happiness and so much more incredible feelings in that one moment. The inspiration was on it's peek and my mind was filled of thought like "I can do everything!" and "I'm so f** happy to be alive!" and so on.
That was kind of epic to experience!

The smallest, but most inspirational moments for me is when I see little kids playing and smiling.

It makes me realize that there are petaphiles in the world
and that the most precious things come in small packages.

Did I say that wrong?

Lols no you didn't, I understand what you were saying and I get the same feeling too. I feel a lot more comfortable hanging out with little kids than adults or even kids that are around my age because they are always judging you in some way or other.

This quote was very simple, yet inspirational and powerful to me. Regardless of my mortality I'll do what I can for people.

This just made my top quotes list (: not that I keep one, but nevertheless it'll stick to me haha^^ thanks(: (for sharing)

Definitely. I love making other people smile, it's a achievement that one can never be tired of which is why it usually strucks me clueless on why people would degrade or make someone sad/self-conscious about themselves instead of trying to make them smile.

To say that I am extremely jealous of your friendship with such a wonderful lady would be an understatement. It's great that you had a chance to get to know her even though it was in such a short time. It's because of individuals like her that will make the world a better place. =]
