You're twelve years old, kid. Come back to this thread when you've hit puberty.

an adult??? you are 13!

I think an adult is someone who can reasonably take care of themselves, and is over 21. If you can take care of yourself (pay your own rent, utils, food, hold a job, or obtain your own funding for school, get yourself where you need to be, etc) at a younger age, then you are showing yoiu are an adult. In the animal kingdom, a creature is "adult" when it can care for itself without parents anymore.

ahhh... well, not all adults are "mature" and mean. You can be whatever kind of adult you want. I mean, there is some maturity, paying bills, keeping a roof, providing essentials, but that doesn't automatically exclude being happy and having fun.

It's hard to live up to expectations, sometimes. Parents want a better life for their children than they had (usually), and they see so much potential in their children, they want everything for them. It's hard to tone that back and let children take a decisive role in their own future. (speaking from experience, btw)

Do you think that it's when they reach the legal age or when they mature enough mentally or physically?

Personally I think that it's when you fully accept the responsibilities of an adult and are mature enough for the most part to complete those responsibilities. Succsessfully caring for a child or children that are your own is also a good sign to me of adulthood.

These are just my opinions, what do the rest of you think?

When one can pay their own bills, and survive on their own. Also taking on responsibilities at home, and at work.

They can really be any age, as long as they fit the criteria. They have to be responsible and know the right time for things. Maturity, in my eyes, is not being serious and stern all the time. It's knowing when to joke around, when to act casual, and when to be formal. For example, with good friends, you can relax and goof around (so long as you're not disrupting the peace or anything) but in a workplace, you'd have to straighten out and get down to business. For someone who calls themselves an "adult", it's unacceptable to display the wrong behaviors at the wrong times. Generally speaking, "adults" tend to be older, because they have more experience with the real world, with how things work and with more education than a child. It's very very rare to witness a child who is very mature.
