When do you consider someone to be an adult?

When you are able to fully support yourself.

As for physically, that would be age 25. That is the age when the human body is a full grown adult.

When you start acting like one

I behave like a child but that's just my personality, when it comes to work I put on an adult-personality act. "Yes I'm professional...."

Age doesn't make you an adult. In my opinion, an adult can take care of them-self. They think before they act. They accept the consequences of their actions, or lack there-of. Saying that someone is an adult if they can take care of children or whatever I think is totally inaccurate. Some people are just not good with kids. Although, being an adult means being responsible... and sometimes it means just sucking up your attitude, doubts, or whatever is holding you back, and just doing what needs to be done. There are many MANY adults that fall short of my opinion of an adult. Including myself, but i'm working on it.

I'm 39 and still act like a child. Or so my wife says. But then she says I'm the man women have been dreaming about. I'm confused, which one is it? Child or man?

How about when they're kicked out of the house? My mother kicked me out when I was 21, because I was hanging out with gay and lesbian socialists, and was planning on attending a gay rights protest in D.C. I was homeless for a month (a friend let me crash), and I matured real fast.

Sometimes the choice of being an adult is decided by circumstances.

When you wake up and realize life isn't too sweet, and that it has a lot more problems than solutions, and solutions often cause problems. When you realize that unless you change yourself to survive and pursue what you want and make choices for yourself, life can suck.

Once you realize that it is impossible to 'find' yourself, and that you merely 'create' yourself. That everything you want to be is an illusion, and that you are already everything that you ever truly needed to be. You are truly an adult when you stop dreaming the ideal, and begin working towards it.

Lol what's wrong with gay and lesbian socialists. Probably some of the nicest people you will ever meet honestly. The unwarrented fear in our nation is truly ammusing. But I understand what you mean, when I was growing up my older brother got kicked out at 16 and he had to become independent very early on.

It seems to me that being an adult depends on when you take account for yourself and your actions. Whenever you begin to rely on yourself you can be considered an adult. I see first hand the "future" generation so dependent on their parents, and some even have kids themselves. Being an adult is not dictated by age no matter what the government says. Probably the least important determiner of adulthood is age.
