I really don't think Beckham is over rated. $250 million is a lot, but transfers are always in the millions. It was the people at LA galaxy that decided to pay that much, and they had to, because otherwise he probably would have just stayed where he was. Anyway, he's a good play maker. Good soccer players usually go for loads of cash. You do realise that before he went to LA galaxy, he went to Real, and before that he was at Manchester United, the richest club in the world. $1,453 million they're estimated to be worth. There is a lot of money in soccer as it's the most played sport in the world. That would explain why they paid that much. Since soccer isn't popular in your country, I'll forgive you.

Over rated: Rio Ferdinand (soccer)- he's alright on the pitch, (but there are better defenders in my opinion) and he's an idiot off it.

Under rated: David Strettle (rugby union)- what a legend, he makes spectacular runs, decent tackles, decent kicks and he's got enough strength not to be taken down on the first tackle like Flood.

overrated:
1. Beckham - i think he's worth loads b/c he is also marketable, but his popularity exceeds his skill for sure
2. Carmelo Anthony - Denver star player. he ain't leading his team no where
3. Vince Carter - the most useless, unprofessional player. He has amazing athleticism and amazing dunks, yet he will never become a player to lead his team to the championship. He is simply not a team player, all he cares about is being flashy with his dunks. he puts in less effort when his team is losing, and he his inability to help a team win is a notorious trait he has. as you can tell, i hate this guy.

underrated:
1. Roy Halladay - Toronto Blue Jays ace pitcher, he has won a Cy Young award, yet is not too well known simply because he plays on a Canadian team rather than an American team. He is also a great leader by example in the clubhouse, and the symbol of work ethics and character. In a game where he was injured, he had admitted that the runs he allowed was not due to the injury, as the injury came after his mistakes. how much more honest can you get?
2. Deron Williams - Jazz point guard. he led the Jazz all the way to the conference finals, yet nobody knows him. he is never named together with the pointguards of our era such as nash, kidd, and parker

No offence, but firstly, you're Canadian (i.e. from the North American Continent which doesn't like soccer) so I don't really think you have a clue- and if you did, it would be a rarity. Second, his skill is probably on par with his popularity, as I said, he is a good play maker. Third, you said he is marketable. More marketable than Ronaldinho or Tevez? I doubt it. He isn't as popular as you make him out to be, and he does a lot of charity work that would probably make him more popular which he hasn't mentioned, I know for a fact that he paid for a prosthetic leg for someone and more. Finally- he's getting injured a lot more now, which could explain why you think he has a 'lack of skill'. He isn't my favourite player, and I'm not sticking up for him only because I think he's a good player. The fact that you said his popularity exceeds his skill for sure just seems arrogant. Fine if that's your opinion, but do you need to speak for everyone else?

I think Tom Brady was overrated since the Pats have an incredibly good offensive line, receivers, and runners. Not to mention that they have a great defense to also boost their success. Same goes for Peyton Manning although I like him.

Oooo.. A big one in the 90s was Grant Hill. Everyone was expecting him to be the next Jordan and he didn't do so well. And after his injuries, he sort of was nothing much to talk about. I think they actually discussed this when comparing the trades between Grant Hill and a bunch of draft picks along with Ben Wallace. Where Ben Wallace ended up being a beast.

Underrated is probably my ex-favorite football player, Ricky Williams. The retard who ruined the Dolphin's seasons for 2-3 years by being emo, unstable, and getting caught numerous times with weed in his system. I think he was good enough to be among the top 3 if not best running back in the NFL (not of all time).
He had insane stats and his plays would quite often make highlight reels showing some insane power and balance that makes me want to throw up. And this was while the Dolphins had a crappy offensive line, mediocre full and corners. They also had a nonexistent passing game after Marino's retirement and it's obvious that it's even worse currently. I remember Williams always being targeted since he was our only major offense causing his stats to fall.

Grant Hill was a champ! Don't be hatin' on him, man. The Magic knew that he had an injured ankle when they traded for him.
