Our thoughts go out to all of our friends and partners in Japan who are currently experiencing a catastrophic natural disaster with the recent earthquake and tsunami ( NYT News LInk). The earthquake hit Japan early Friday afternoon JST and had a magnitude of 8.9. It's epicenter was approximately 230 miles northeast from downtown Tokyo. Now there are several Tsunami warnings north of Tokyo and severe floodings. Please take a moment to wish for the safety and well being of all of our Japanese friends!
We will be selecting a charity fund to show our support and will update this post once we have further information.

A prayer to all nations of the world. As the offset of balance in one area, throws off the balance in another, so too is the world in these times. We need to unite now before it's too late. God bless the people of Japan and the people of all nations.

It is a little freaky here in Nagoya were it was felt at around a 3 on the Richter scale, and to have a 5 story concrete building sway about 5cm side to side. It makes you think you are dizzy for a few seconds, until your brain realizes it is the world that is swaying, then you just have an hour or so of motion sickness.
I hope that a colleague of mine who was flying into Narita Airport today is still in the United State and avoided the chaos in Tokyo. It is the only time I hope someone is stranded at LAX.

wow that is scary plus knowing that its not just a quake but tsunami as well. my thoughts go out to the people of japan and the rest of the other countries around there that can be affected by the tsunami or other quakes. so scary to know that it can happen here too since being on the pacific rim we're all in the ring of fire if its not quakes and tsunamis it will be volcanos. its only been what a month maybe two since new zealand was hit by a quake
