Japanese Earthquake Magnitude 8.0
Posted 3/12/11
I really feel for the japanese people and any other countries which were indirectly affected. Nature has been very harsh this year. First the major flooding in Australia, then the earthquake in N.Z., followed by what has happened in Japan.

I kept reading in places that it was 8.9 on the richter scale.
I remember it was definitely that because I thought "Holy shit. Nearly 9? Isn't that pretty much unheard of??"

It's really sad though Japan were reasonably prepared for the quake, just not the tidal wave.
I just saw a video on the BBC showing a before and after of a town... ALL of it was swept away, apart from 2 hospital buildings and one other tower. Over half the population of the town were missing.

Next time I get into town, I'm going to ask if the Red Cross has set anything up, and donate all the cash I have left on me... (in fairness it's probably just less than £10, but I don't have much else -.-)

The worst may not even be over yet. I don't know if it's been fixed by now (I've been asleep for 10 hours) but there was a powerplant that had malfunctioned during the quake, and now they're having to evacuate the area surrounding it. Let's hope we don't have another Chernobyl on our hands to boot...

Yeah i was thinking that... still holy shit. That's almost 9. Isn't 9 so violent it's practically unheard of?
I remember studying earthquakes in primary school, and I don't remember the scale going over 8. ._.

Have you tried using the google people finder?
Don't get too worked up yet, chances are if they weren't on the coast of the Pacific, their power and phone lines are just out.
