UPDATE: Thank you all for your tremendous support in aiding our efforts to support all those affected in Japan. With matching your generous contributions, we together have collected over $50,000 USD!! This is absolutely amazing and moving! We could not have done this without your compassion and support.
We are currently in contact with the Association of Japanese Animations (AJA) to finalize the best suited organization to assist in on-ground relief efforts with support of the anime industry. Your contributions - large or small - are not only greatly appreciated but also make a huge difference in all the lives affected. With power, food and water shortages, we want to donate this as soon as possible, so we will be closing the donation window on 3/25. Thank you again to those who tirelessly and selflessly supported this cause. If you would like to help more, please go here to find out what you can do to lend a helping hand. Thank you. * * * * * Whats up Everyone, On Friday, March 11, 2011 at 05:46 UTC, Japan was hit with a devastating earthquake reaching a magnitude of 8.9 on the richter scale - one of the largest in recorded history. Crunchyroll would like to help fund the emergency response and the long-term recovery efforts that will be needed to rebuild damaged communities throughout Japan. For every dollar that you donate, Crunchyroll will match your donation (up to $5,000 USD). Once we have collected all donations by the end of next week, we would choose an appropriate charitable organization that will best assist the on-ground efforts to aid those affected. We will either select one of the charities listed below, or one that fits within our vision to bring much needed resources to those in need. We'll make sure to send your username along with donation amount so you may be recognized, as well as report back here regarding the total amount we've raised. Your donations - large or small - will provide a huge step forward to expediting the on-ground recovery efforts. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at support@crunchyroll.com. If you or a company you know would like to join us in matching donation funds, please have them contact us at press@crunchyroll.com. If you would like to donate to another organization or make a donation directly, please find a selection of great organizations and their links below: Red Cross of America - Japanese Relief Fund: Donate here Give2Asia: Donate here UNICEF: Donate here Global Giving: Donate here Thank you for your support. |

This is one of those losses that everyone will feel. From the impact of lives lost to the impact on the global economy to the impact of lost or delayed anime.
Even for a country that is used to earthquakes and tsunamis, this was devastating. I wish them well on the road to recovery. I would do more, if I could. |

I could only give a little but I hope it helps, my thoughts and prayers and hopes are those who have been struck by this disaster. If I could I would drop everything and go and help with the recovery but I know that the people of Japan are already on the road to recovery. They are truly a country to look up to and take a lesson from.

Hey guys, I've made a list of Japanese public figures who have been confirmed to be safe. However it is not complete, and I'm seeking anybody who is willing to help out. If you find out any famous Japanese or Japan-based person is doing okay, please add their name to the list. I want this list to be as full and complete as possible, for the sake of the fans worldwide.
