For those of us that don't believe in religion or believe in it that strongly, donating is the way to go since why not do something yourself instead of praying to your god and waiting for him to rid the world of it's problems right?

that video was almost enough to make me sick. Fanatics like that are just distressing. The sheer audacity that she thinks that it's an attack against atheists in japan would derail my faith if I had any formal belief.
As far as the rest of OP's post I think prayer is nice but don't use it as an excuse not to act if you feel compelled to do so.
And, yes. I do believe there are wrong things to pray for. Like for example the girl in the video prays that more disasters like this happen to strike at atheists around the world. Praying to hurt people is not good.

Can we prove that it wasn`t caused by her prayer?

Lets review logically:
1. Japan is part of a major fault zone known as the ring of fire: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Ring_of_Fire
2. Japan regularly has earthquakes, over 1000 recorded per year.
3. There have been concerns as early as the 1970s that Japan was "due" a massive earthquake. While earthquakes remain unpredictable, they are not always unexpected.

With that in mind, I'd have to go with act of nature rather then God/prayer.

The problem with this girls "reasoning" is that it is entirely based on hindsight. With that "logic" I could say Obama became president because I prayed for him, rather then legitimately winning an election. If it happened, you can't "prove" me wrong! Not without employing common sense of course

Basically this girl is horrible person and a dreadful Christian, not only for wishing bad things on fellow human beings but also for rejoicing in their suffering. I'm an atheist, I know the Christian majority are not like her, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to follow a God who thinks nothing of wiping out so many lives in such a senseless act of cruelty.

I've often my prayers, or rather my thoughts and shall donate as well as soon as payday arrives.

NO! It's not a bad thing. Especially when you're young, like me and don't have a credit card/paypal/whatever people use to donate money. I pray for them, and prayer doesn't have to be a religious thing. It could simply mean sending good thoughts and wishes their way, and you could be praying to a wall for all we know.

who have no mone can donate. ho can - please donate. theres nothing wrong with both. i'd rather choose to pray.
my thoughts and heart in japan!

For most people, pray and God are just a convenience. Only actually happens during times of tragedy.

Notice government officials and the like never mention nor do such until a great tragedy occurs. Then suddenly they're leaning on it like it's going out of style.

No offense but they're all about as helpful as yeast infection.

Japan has an unconquerable soul...

but I pray to whether gods may be

for the survival and for wellness and healing to

come to this nation...

I didn't get to watch the video (Youtube states there is a copyright claim?) so I can't respond to it. As for some of the question I do not think that prayer alone is enough but it can be helpful. It is certainly not a replacement for action if the person can do something. Prayer probably affects the person praying more than the target of the prayer so I'd say it is helpful for establishing a mindset before acting.

Caused by prayer or not, she's still a psycho for revelling in the fact that there are multiple thousands dead.

I can't decide which is worse, her or those people that keep going "it's karma for what happened at pearl harbour. they deserved it."
There are SO many things wrong with both....

Basically it's your stereotypical American southerner who is saying God is real, he answers prayers and this is brilliant.
Which would be fine and good if her logic wasn't "All through the beginning of lent, we've been praying for God to open the eyes of atheists around the world"
Okay that's not so bad either, but wait!
"Yesterday God shook Japan, literally took it by the shoulders and shook it! He was saying 'look I'm here!'"
"Isn't God so amazing?"

I'm sure there was worse, but it's been blocked for me as well now so I can't check.
What I CAN do is reupload that, and mail it to OP.
I've nothing else to do so...

Edit; Oh piss. Someone beat me to the punch.

If you have to pin a label on God to make him real then this so-called girl of god is sooo wrong in her message..

Karma does not work that way, and if I were her, I would watch my mouth,

before the cat of devils sews it shut...

Japan needs help,

let it be..

Will no one really knows b/c it is religion something that you believe to be true, so we don't even know if praying is a good thing or not b/c we might never know if theirs a god.

I like your response. Also, I realized it was down and searched to find it again. But I'm going to put up your description of the video in case it gets taken down, if you don't mind.
