well they could just stick to selling it online instead of in stores like Best Buy, or Walmart or what ever store sells dvds. and as you said if someone wants to find it they will.

wal-mart selling anime?? are you joking ?? i have no choice but to order all of my anime online since , wal-mart or target doesn't carry any anime dvd's/blurays and the nearest best buy is 40 miles away but mainstream titles like fma, bleach, naruto, inuyasah, and dbz. That grievance aside it's like the sex scene in mass affect all it takes is some one to catch wind of it, blow it out of proportion then be on faux news line up "selling animated child pornography to are children?" would be the head line. ... I am not getting involved in the whole debate about it I know where I stand and i think it's BS but opinion doesn't matter. To be fair I think funimation will re-lease a unconcerned version of it, it was just mainly caused to boost sales in the self interest of the series because there ALOT of people that don't want it altered at all and will not buy it if it is.

look, I don't know what stores sell what, last time I went to Best Buy was 5 or 6 years ago and I don't want to go back because they gave me counterfeit money as change and when I confronted them about it they would allow me to exchange it and the last time I went to Walmat was sometime last year.

anyways back to the topic. while I don't think they would censor it if they didn't have to, to avoid getting sued or whatever. if would make much sense if they do sell the censored version if they know that they will lose money doing so.

Are people seriously still talking about this? That's old news, and since then Funimation reps have already said at Anime Expo 2010 that it will be Uncensored. So this topic is pointless. If Strike Witches got away uncensored so will this.

Why do people care about censorship so much? No enough fanservice?

Ok, fanservice is awesome, but sometimes unnecessary

Has anyone thought that this might be the effect of the change in the Japanese porno laws affecting anime.

I read about this a couple months ago. I didn't think they would get this working this soon.

Ok here what I wanna know. Is this anime being shown on TV? If not, then there's no need for the FCC to do anything.

2nd, if this anime is really mature, then it should be marketed at the audience that it is intended for. If you need an example of that, just watch bubblegum crisis.

And 3rd, if this is true about funimation censoring the show on DVD...then that company has serious issues.

Regardless if they made the decision to censor or not shouldn't be an issue. Like people have stated, if they did choose to censor it, then people who want to see that stuff can either import or look at the manga... alternatively, if they censored it officially and there was enough support for an uncensored version, they might consider releasing both as different sets... who knows...

... As a previous post has indicated, they were only 'thinking' about censoring the DVD / Blu-ray releases, and apparently they've leaned towards unedited anyways...

Is censoring wrong? That's a different topic. Boycotting a company because they choose to censor or not... idk... I've not seen this particular series, nor read the manga, but there are culture differences to take into account that *are* valid. Like it or not, there are parents who realize that they cannot control everything that their children can see, hear, or do, and choose to make their voice heard about censoring to 'protect their children.' Perhaps it's being overprotective. Perhaps those parents won't even consider buying the DVD / Blu-rays. Perhaps regardless of censorship, they'll still prevent their children from what they can or cannot see in their homes, but that's pretty much where their control ends. The only way they can be absolutely sure is if they petition to censorship, that way, even should their children go to a friend's house and view media they would find objectionable, they don't have to worry as much.

Is it a little overboard? Perhaps.

I can also understand the viewpoint that if you're paying money for a product, that whomever is paying should get the entire product, free of defects and yes, censorship. Why pay for something you'll be prevented from getting anyways? In that case, I point out like above, you can pay for imports, though you won't have the translation US publishers provide. Legally, at least.

Regardless, boycotting a publisher due to censorship is an individual's right, and your prerogative whether or not you choose to purchase from any individual publisher. Just as it's the company's right to choose to censor content they choose to be 'acceptable.' Thinking about it from a sales perspective: If you add censorship, there will be less public outcry from the pro-censorship community and potential better sales in that community vs. the anti-censorship / people who would prefer to buy the product without the censoring. There's opportunity cost either way, and the decision lies with what target audience the publisher is aiming toward.

They should put a 2 n' 1 in the DVD then... both censored and not censored on different discs
