This thread should be closed as Funimation announced that they will release Dance in the Vampire Bund unedited: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-03-17/funimation-to-release-unedited-vampire-bund-in-june

so, the OP is pissed because an anime got censored that looks like this

May i ask, do you have brain damage?

you really didn't read the thread if you think my post had anything to do with WHAT series was being censored. It's about the fact that a company that has always been about releasing unedited DVD's and Blu-ray would suddenly start censoring.

I am not saying that I am for or against the censorship of anime but I am saying this, you're argument is wrong. First I will start off by saying that for many people out there anime is not just a fictional form of entertainment but rather some people are consumed by anime and their whole lives are devoted to anime. Second, there are sickos out there who watch anime take for instance Tsutomu Miyazaki aka The Little Girl Murderer, the Otaku Murderer, and Dracula. For some of these people, characters, whether anime or not, take on a very real sense.

Simple solution, just get everyone to stop buying Funimation dvd's & redirect them to crunchyroll. That way crunchyroll becomes an overseas anime monopoly, & we all get an endless amount of anime licenses with un-edited/dubbed shows. Everyone wins

well, execpt Funimation.

yeah...cause crunchyroll totally doesn't edit/censor. I'd much rather be able to buy the DVDs anyways, crunchyroll can lose it's licenses but my DVDs will stick with me:P

Crunchyroll doesn't censor, that's why they have that 18+ content filter. I'm guessing you never watched Queen's Blade... but I agree on the DVD's. I'd prefer having physical discs that don't randomly disappear because of a license agreement *cough* Fairy Tail

I'm not a fan of censorship (or FUNimation in general), but this *particular* issue-- that is, when dealing with minors (or characters who obviously appear underage) in sexual situations-- is a VERY sticky legal situation in America. If there really was anything that could be somehow, some way, be a legal issue for FUNi, you can bet your knickers they're going to censor it. And they SHOULD, because whether you agree with the legality or not, it would be a stupid decision for them to risk their entire company just to please the few people who think it's hot (*ahem*, I mean, the people who are only interested in the artistic integrity, which probably wouldn't be damaged by censoring nudity). They're not martyrs; they're an entertainment company. Furthermore, can you imagine the storm of BS it would stir up if they didn't censor it and they should have? There'd be an otaku witch hunt.

As I recall, FUNi licensed this show before the seriously questionable parts were actually animated. You might be right if you said that they should have known better; but they decided to go for it. If it had needed to be censored and they dropped the license instead, people would tear them up for that, plus they'd have been out the money for the license. So that wouldn't have been ideal, either-- and a smaller company might or might not have been willing to pick up the release. FUNimation has the benefit of being pretty wealthy as far as anime distributors go, and having a little clout. A tiny company? They'd probably have much bigger problems, because they don't have a big parent company to pay for a good lawyer.
(Speaking of FUNi's parent company, they probably have a say in whether they can "get away" with publishing things censored or uncensored, too; and since FUNi has been up for sale for a while, I doubt that company would want an ugly accusation of "peddler of underage smut" plastered on them. Might turn future buyers off.)

As I said, I'm not pro-censorship. But the righteous indignation in this particular circumstance seems a bit misaimed.

FYI http://media-blasters.com rates Queen's Blade as 16+ which makes a heck of a lot more sense actually. Only their hentai/porn titles are rated 18+ For Fairy Tail unfortunately some publishers/rights holders seem to play hardball like that with most of their properties. But yeah I like to own the discs as well.

ah, saw that others already pointed out that Funi will be releasing it unedited

To be fair, it has been acknowledged before that some censoring was done on Charger Girl Ju-den Chan, although I am not certain why. Considering the content of Queen's Blade, I have to wonder if they would do it again if it were being acquired now.

Most of the shows CR acquires for simulcast are censored for broadcast versions, but of course that is not CR doing the censoring.

This is how I view about censoring.

If your going to have censored things on the TV series, then you DEFINITELY need to have them uncensored on the DVD's/blur rays.

If you didnt want any sexual situation to be seen ever.....than you should not have even bothered putting in something that would be censored in the first place.

Either have it uncensored, or dont bother putting any censoring situations in your anime, period

And to rant about the loli-porn ban or whatnot....

Im no criminal or Pedophile, but I would imagine that if you could let someone relieve their urges in a legal way, you would want to do so.

Also, Loli's in manga (And probably loli-porn) look absolutely NOTHING like real life counterparts. Guys will get off to the loli-porn, not to the actual loli girls in real life.....because they arent even close to looking like the fictional characters that got them into liking loli-porn in the first place.

Also, movies have sex scenes, gun fights, blood, murder.....yet all of that is ok because it has a Age Rating on it. So I must ask.....what the hell is the difference between Video Games and Loli-porn related stuff having an Age Rating on them, but them still being bad?

My theory is this. Japan decided to go after the 1 thing that could give them the biggest moral boost and least amount of money lost for the public to see. After all, I doubt any notable majority buys loli-porn, so they obviously wouldnt be losing too much money over this, but the public sure as hell would boost such a feat.

I got a headache right now, unrelated to this topic, so Ill edit this post later to actually give a full fledged reasoning to why this shouldnt be the case.

TBQH, superluccix, I have absolutely no idea what you're trying to say. That anime =/= real life? Because yeah, that's something we can all agree on.

Anyway, I haven't seen Vampire Bund, but it can't be THAT bad or FUNi would never dream of releasing it uncensored.
I hope.
Can you imagine if they really DID release something that was offensive to the point of possible lawsuits for indecency or pornography? It could spell the end of the anime industry in America.

True enough that CR doesn't do the censoring but some of the material they present for us is censored thus why I would prefer to have more options than just them. Personally I wouldn't really care if they did or not if it wasn't so blatantly obvious ie as seen in asobi ni ikuyo, a mysterious white fog that appears out of nowhere to cover questionable content.
