I bought the Roku player and tried the CrunchyRoll channel. It doesn't work for me. Times out on the retrieving page.

Make sure that WiFi can be picked up at that specific location ~ timeouts are built into the Roku, and a slow WiFi connection will timeout, when most web browsers would be a bit more patient.

Also, it seems like some shows are slow to load ~ I'd had trouble loading Glass Maiden the other day, and this morning as it took time was expecting it to time out, but at the last second it launched.

By the way, which part of the Caribbean are you located?

Just remember that different people's equipment and set up are different. My bedroom TV has a VGA input, so I could bring my netbook upstairs, with the adapter, plug it into power, plug it into the TV, start up the show, full screen it, set it to one side, pick up the netbook whenever I wanted to control it ...

... but just leaving the Roku plugged into the TV and using its remote control is a lot more convenient. I leave the netbook plugged into its adapter downstairs.

So with all the bandwidth streaming issue we are having! is this really worth getting?

DO WANT.

So much more convenient than using a PS3. Besides that I can also watch great movies and tv eps on my crappy TV that doesn't have a cable box.

Can you deliver it in France??

I just ordered the roku, can't wait to get it! This is the first time CR has ever advertised any technology that has really caught my eye.

Just got mine last Friday works pretty well, got tired of waiting for that PS3 app. I just hope Crunchyroll gets 720p support for the Roku soon.

About Roku in europe. I sent a ticket to their help section and asked about it. and here is what they had to say.

We would like to inform you that if the content provider works in europe roku player will work.

In short, as I expected it all depends on the content provider. Time to orded one of these babys once I get some money.

Sure can. Also as a long term investment, it is useful for more than just watching anime from CR. You can use it to listen to podcasts/live radio, and there are plenty of other channels that are constantly expanding because there are tools that allow sites to build their own channels for it.

It doesn't particularly do anything that you can't do on your PS3 hooked to the net, but it is more user friendly and aimed at convenience by having everything in the right place, and easy to access from a large known selection. Plus the built in tools that are unique to it such as better loading times, instant 7 second play back without having to re-buffer, and instantly fitting to the best quality and aspect for your TV.
