A few points.

1. The XD/S has a usb port to play video and music files plus display pictures.
2. The Roku comes with a 3 lead RCA type cable. Video + Left & Right audio.
3. The mini plug is used for Component video .
4. A nice HMDI cable from eBay will set you back less than $3 delivered from the US. I think mine came in 4 days.
5. A person who goes by the name "Nowhereman" usually has a special price on the Roku. Check out his website before ordering.
6. You need roughly a 2.5mbs cable connection for HD quality. If you stream Netflix, make sure that you have at least 150 gb of download capacity per month.
7. The new Crackle channel has movies, tv and some anime. Free. Legal. It does have commercial breaks.

Make sure that WiFi can be picked up at that specific location ~ timeouts are built into the Roku, and a slow WiFi connection will timeout, when most web browsers would be a bit more patient.

Also, it seems like some shows are slow to load ~ I'd had trouble loading Glass Maiden the other day, and this morning as it took time was expecting it to time out, but at the last second it launched.

By the way, which part of the Caribbean are you located?

Sorry totally just saw this. The Wifi is a non-issue. Other channels on the roku player work fine. Such as, Netflix, RaceFan TV, CNET, its just with the crunchyroll that it never loads. or it loads and drops the show after 2 seconds on.

I also tried with the wired connect just in case, but to no avail. I get the same problem.

I thought that too, about it possibly being the show, so I tried the most recent episode of Bleach and it loaded in seconds but it dropped almost immediately.

I even tried a drama show and it would load and drop in a redundant cycle.

I have the Roku XD. Maybe its that. I don't know. I kind of gave up on the Roku player and currently watching crunchyroll on my Laptop.

By the way, I am on South beach, not exactly Caribbean but close enough.

Where problems on the home side could contribute is where the load is lagging, and the problems on the home side push it past the timeout built into the Roku.

But if its still there with an ethernet cable, that's not contributing.

I've had lots of series not load, or load the next morning after failing to load the night before, but never had the dropout, so if we were getting our connections from the same CDN servers, I'd say it was definitely something between you and the Limelight server.

But in NE Ohio, I'm likely getting Limelight servers in either Chicago or New York, so it could be that you are getting streams from a Limelight server location that does an even worse job than mine do.

I just picked up a Roku XDS and as a premium member I was eager to watch crunchyroll on the Roku, but it simply doesn't work. It times out on the retrieving page. Sometimes if you try 10-15 times you'll luck out, but that's a joke. I don't know if it's because they don't have enough servers streaming the alternately encoded video or what, but all requests for assistance from crunchyroll have gone unanswered. This thing is getting returned. I'd strongly suggest you skip this purchase.

I too was disappointed in CR on Roku, primarily because of the lack of 720p encodes, so I stopped using it for that well before a number of people started reporting the problems you speak of.

Fortunately, there is a lot more to Roku than Crunchyroll, so I will not be parting with mine anytime soon.

I Just bought a Roku XD yesterday and let me just say it works great. I also became a member yesterday as well and I have had no problems. I have it connected to my TV Via HDMI and I have 60mpbs of net speed so I don't know if that may be a factor but those are my specs. The only prob I have is that so far I haven't seen where I have the option of changing the screen options of certain older animes, as I could with netflix on my 360 or ps3. So I get the box that fits length-wise but doesn't fill my TV width-wise.

I don't get why some people insist on either stretching 4:3 material (thus distorting the image) or zooming it (and thus losing material on the top and bottom).

im thinking about buying a Roku very soon, and i have a couple of questions
1. Do new episodes of anime shows come out the same day they are released on the website?
2. Are all shows available on the Crunchyroll website available on the Roku CR Channel?

Is there a way to convert My Queue to Favorites? It's really tedious to browse through the shows in the CR Roku app on my Roku 2 XD, while I have this nice queue with all the shows I want to watch in it.

We have a new version of the Roku Channel coming soon. Once it's released, it will allow you to access your Queue.
