I renewed my membership in January, but to be honest, I haven't watched a video on Crunchyroll since 12/22/11. The reason? I got a Samsung blu-ray player that now uses the HDMI port once used for my laptop. I can't stand to watch videos on my laptop screen, so I don't watch videos on Crunchyroll anymore. I'd still watch all the time, except you don't have a Samsung app that I can use on my player the way I use Pandora, Netflix, and YouTube.

Hey Apofisu

I know how you feel bro. My brother is planning to get a Samsung Blu Ray player for the tv since we both do use Crunchyroll and we heard that CR is making an app for samsung lets hope it becomes true. So CR can we get any confirmation of the samsung app?

I have heard no concrete plans to support Samsung Blu-ray players but we are looking into it, as well as other Blu-ray player platforms. So we'll see how things go.

Recent Samsung TVs also support apps. It'd be nice to get an app right on the TV with no other devices needed.

I would also like a samsung blueray player app so i can watch it on my hd projector. Watching anything on a computer monitor is laughable when my projector screen is 6 1/2 feet tall and 12 to 13 feet wide. Please make this app, my monitor cable isnt long enough to reach my projector and im tirred of watching it on this microscopic screen.

So since crunchyroll doesnt have any "concrete" plans for about 10$ you can fix this. You say that the HDMI that you use to use is now plugged into a blu-ray player. Simply get a HDMI switch and another HDMI cable much like these two objects:

http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Switch-Switcher-Remote-Support/dp/B003DS5XTE

or this

http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-High-Performance-Switcher-Switch/dp/B0015YWKYY/ref=pd_cp_e_pw_1

and dont forget

http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Cable-2M-6-Feet/dp/B0002L5R78/ref=pd_bxgy_e_img_b

Now you couldn't watch a blu-ray and anime at the same time, but this would allow you to have up to 3 devices pluged into the 1 port that your TV has.

Just note that due to HDCP if your bluray player is on and "playing" and you switch it would most likely have to restart and you would loose your position, if you have a PS3 or XBox360 they both will restart. More on HDCP here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-bandwidth_Digital_Content_Protection

More options the better, hopefully you can get back to watching crunchyroll on your TV!

Your problem is a little harder but since you didnt specify your type of monitor cable ill assume its either HDMI or DVI and the main problem is that your cable is not long enough, yeah it would be nice just to have an app on your bluray player but heres another solution:

Dont let bust buy rip you a new one for cables, I have purchased from these guys before, never had problems.

- HDMI Cables -

25ft hdmi
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024006&p_id=2841&seq=1&format=2
75ft hdmi
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024006&p_id=7697&seq=1&format=2

the rest of the HDMI cables are here: make sure to note the speed certifcation, standard or high will work read the article posted below, at that distance I would worry about the lower quality cables...
http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240
another place with comparable prices on HDMI Cables:
http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/hdmi-cables/hdmi-cable.htm

Please Note: DO NOT PURCHASE HDMI CABLES that are that long without understanding this section:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Cables

To summarize, there are class 1 and class 2 cables, class 1 cables are usually cheaper but can run longer distances, most older devices can use these without any problems at short distances but you might run into trouble pushing full HD at long distances, so I have to recommend that you purchase class 2 cables, they are made of higher quality wire and have less signal loss. The two linked above are standard quality cables (class 1), I have a 25' cable running my TV and it works just fine pushing 1080p frames. Its up to your risk assessment to decide the cable that you wish to purchase.

Further reading on HDMI cables can be done here, a nice assortment of general questions and simple answers:

http://www.bluejeanscable.com/articles/hdmi-cable-information.htm

- DVI Cables -

25ft DVI
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10209&cs_id=1020901&p_id=2097&seq=1&format=2
50ft DVI
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10209&cs_id=1020901&p_id=2185&seq=1&format=2

and the rest of monoprices DVI cables here:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10209
and the bluejean cable companys DVI page:
http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/dvi-cables/index.htm

Please Note: DO NOT PURCHASE DVI CABLES that are that long without reading this: mainly DVI has trouble with signal loss, and by trouble I mean anything over about 10 feet. For more information you can look through this article near the end, they recommend splitting out into a higher gauge wire and running with a full set of RGBHV if you wish to go down that route at all just let me know and we can look into that. Anyway~~ ohh, the article:

http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/dvi-cables/dvicabletypes.htm

Hopefully this will help you watch crunchyroll on your projector!
Best of Luck!

looks like you missed out on the $225k app challenge but don't let that dissuade you from exploring the SDK and dev site. I'd love to have a native CR app directly on my TV.

(rant: seriously, Samsung? You offered up $225,000 in prizes and only have 21 apps to show in the submissions list?? )

I have a Samsung Smart Tv too.
By now I see Crunchyroll on my Tv with the help of Apple Tv. Apple Tv is pluged to Tv by HDMI and I use Crunchyroll app on iPad with AirPlay option, that send anime to Apple Tv so that I can watch on big screen TV.

Would be great too ir there is apps for Samsung TVs, PS3 and Apple TV so that I would't need to change between devices to watch Crunchyroll.

If you make an app for the samsung blu ray you are also making an app for the tv and the phone, so CR get on this and it is not hard to get on the app store at all, it is the same process as getting into the android or apple market.

A few months back at Anime Boston I stopped by the Crunchyroll booth and they mentioned that they were already working on a Samsung App. I hope this happens sooner then later.
