I think we have all had it where we by the game expecting so much from it. Visually, story, even the game play. Then when the payoff arrives you fill with such dismay at how something that was good, could have just been so much better.

I believe e all have them, but mine this year has to be Dragon Age 2. The game itself was good. By no means the best but by far good enough to play again. There was just a feew things that frankly upset me that just... hit a nerve.

1. The use of the same map.
Really?.. Could you have not just made a few more dungeons... There is all of about 3 dungeon levels in this game, where if visiting a whole new dungeon are, the layout will be exactly the same for the exception that certain parts will be cut off or you run round a certain half of it. You spend most of the game in the city where the town itself fails to impress after 2 hours as throughout the game the town never changes except for 'a' statue added later on in the game. Then location wise you are again very limited never really venturing anywhere diffrent which.. i felt was both a shame as there was nothing to really look forward to and got the feeling E.A got lazy.

2. Enemys

Using the same skin much? You will come across the same mob skin time and time again with either the colour of the mob skin changing or they just get bigger or have them few extra spells. Which again sides on the lazy :/ One also also another thing that i felt could have been improved was when you came across a group that want you dead because you killed such an such an now you must die. *dum dum dum*. Very cheesy, very lacking in depth and can be quite confusing if you dont remember that 1 of the 200 names... Almost reminds me of 'you killed my father! Now you must die!' innuendos.

3. Amount of gameplay and expansions
First off the gameplay length. The game was glorified for its 40 hour main story gameplay. Which i will happily admitt easily deliver, but heres the big old but, if you invest your time in the side quests and extras etc, you will soon come to realise that the side missions are on the fine side. If you have ever played dragon age:Origins you will know exactly what i mean and why i say that. I think overall i did the whole game in something silly like 60 hours with most if not all side quests done. Dragon age: origins i must have racked up 150 hours not even doing 3/4 of the game quests and everything else. Now about the expansions. I found this in the first Dragon age and d really hoped they wouldnt do it for this one; charging for expansions that are already on the disk. Now i understand expansions are a nice thing, adds that little bit more to your addiction. But when your charging £17 (£10 if you obatined the special edition of Dragon age 2 as you get a complementary expansion free) for 2 expansion on the release date of the game, not to mention the £40 for the game brand new i expect A* work and even then feel cheated that your charged for unlocking something on the disk, or something in DLC on release date. Shame on you E.A., shame on you.

Verdict

The game itself was good, maybe even great but with the lacking of effort in visuals length and charge, i do wonder if expanding from the ideas of the prequel was such a good idea after all. I would give the game 7.5/10 overall with all things considered.

Please leave your thoughts ideas and games youve been disappointed with in 2011.

I was about to say Dragon Age 2, actually. But you already got everything I was going to put down and then some.

DLC and expansions are just simple ways to rack up the original price. Go figure I should have waited for an ultimate edition.

The most disappointing game of the year Would of course be Call of duty : Black ops there's no game even close to this one's awfulness, it could even potentially be worst game of the century..
