So there's been some speculation about the Augmented Reality concept for the 3DS. Not much speculation, but some speculation. One of these ideas that are popping around the Nintendo world is with the Pokémon universe.
TL;DR- I want to battle people on my 3DS, using pokemon cards ive collected on my table. What say you, sir?
Nintendo started their company selling playing cards. they sold a HUGE amount of card sets, and now with their precious new baby 3DS, they have the ability to combine their card roots with the latest technology: Augmented Reality.
Now, we've all seen Pokemon TCG at some point in our lives. I see it every week on TV. The speculation that's roaming the net is that Game Freak and Nintendo could be releasing yet another upgrade to their TCG line.
That, being playing the card game on the 3DS, but unlike the older cartridge games or the ereader from GameBoy past, they could use the 3DS AR system and create a pokemon battle arena and watch it unfold in 3D ON THE TABLE.
open my spoiler to get a bit more in depth
To be honest, pokemon TCG sucks at its current level. its extremely lame compared to other card games. If they implemented the color version battle system with the AR card game, i'd start collecting in an instant.
Of course the TCG needs to be simplified from the current complexity of the game.
Possibly, they will:
> release all pokemon as playable,
> make a limited type B set with higher level points
> allow only a few recovery items to be used (potions, revives)
> release a limited number of official legendaries
> release game mats for different environments, cities, themes, pokemon gyms
> sell cards in packs of 7? (6 pokemon, 1 trainer card)
and finally they can use the color version battle system
> have HP points set up on the 3DS screen,
> display up to 5 pokemon in your team with their starting pose being in a pokeball
> finally give us sound bytes from the anime for each pokemon :D
ANYWHO, the point of my story, is that if pokemon TCG found its way into the 3DS AR system, i'd totally start collecting cards again. I dunno, nintendo. maybe you need to step up your capabilities. and for you GameFreak company, if you dont do this idea first, someone will do it better, maybe yugioh or MtG will do it, and then you'll look like a copycat. a copycat who had a chance for FAME. tut tut tut
i remember the days when people went online looking for pokemon cards to print out and then sell them to other kids for a profit. I still have a few fake Dragini in my card case...
