I love it when Slice-of-life is done right. Because then you can actually relate to whats happening to the characters and feel sympathy when things go wrong for them. For example, episode one was pretty depressing and I got kinda sad when she cried at the end.

But an anime like Mahou Shoujo Madoka*Magica doesn't even make me flinch. (Not saying it's a bad anime just that it doesn't make me connect on such a emotional level)

This one will definitely be a good one for me atleast.

it was a very good episode, i am still impressed they are able to keep up this amount of artwork and quality so far.. with that said she did come off as a bit of a brat in this epiosde..but I am willing to forgive it because she is slowly, i do mean slowly growing up over her time there and well that's how it should it be. It shouldn't be forced right away, a true character development is achieved overtime "also the writer at the end wtf?" it's okay to have your fantasies and all but don't act them.

I'm looking forward. This season I didn't want to watch any more fantasy/harem/slapstick anime, so it seems like this was the right choice.

I didn't find her to be a brat.. I kind of would have done the same thing she did. What would you have done? I'm guessing you wouldn't let anyone treat you that way either, huh People need to stand up for themselves unless they want to be walked all over. Or was there something else she did that made you feel she was a brat?

EPisode 2 was great.

But seriously, Ohana is really dense when it comes to her surroundings....she doesnt really have any common sense or etiquette.

1. If you see someone working their butt off, and then you go ahead and cook for the staff....she is obviously going to be pissed. However I wont solely blame that on her, since it was mainly the Guy cooks fault for saying that Ohana is better than her.

2. You dont just randomly blurt out nasty things to a person who is driving....granted this is kinda a weak thing to criticize her about...but it was her reaction afterwards after saying Die which made the two of them almost get into an accident.

3. This one is probably the most important. The Grandmother was indeed correct when she was saying "Careless effort does nothing but harm" This was the case with Ohana cleaning the room....also, it was obvious that the shy girl was attempting to tell her something important about the Wave Room...however she got called over.....normally a higher conscious person would actually wait until she spoke to say what the important thing was.

Now about her personality. Well we know she didnt have a great past....however she is indeed a little quick on the draw to judge other people. Though you cant really blame her since she is so young.

We also know that nobody in Ohana's situation would be doing what Ohana did like confronting both of them and forcefully trying to make them try to understand her better. Due to nobody ever doing this.,...we cant really say if this is effective or not....but since its an anime....its kinda not so surprising at all.

Also WTF at the end? Im guessing the author isnt really popular or anything....and maybe he writes about sex novels?

It also doesnt seem he is going to be able to do anything to Ohana...since in the preview somebody comes up behind him. Im sure its just going to be played off as something minor.

But yea, this might actually be the first time I have ever seen a PURE Slice of Life anime. And honestly, this anime does Slice of Life perfectly.......even though this is the first PURE Slice of Life anime I have seen.....so how can I judge it if this is the first of its kind.

But I think everyone can get the idea of why this anime does indeed show the Slice of Life aspect of anime perfectly.

I'm approaching it as a drama as from the first two episodes that was how it presented itself, I don't care if it is also a slice of life or whatever which I tend to hate. It is still early in the season, but I am really surprised that this show I never heard of has become my early favorite this season. I thought I was just killing 25 minutes with that first episode and now I really love it after two.

I know the show is targeted at older men, but was I the only one that got the impression that one of the girls may be into yuri?

it seems to be both, i like the main female lead myself.... but i see why girls like it as well because they can really connect with the main female lead on a lot levels. It think also it's because the characters are believable on a lot of levels instead of a bunch of "kawaii uguu" sterotypes even though I love clannad and azumangdaioh this is above and beyond the call of duty over those shows.

I was hoping for a nice new drama after Wandering Son finished and i found it in this one. I enjoy the slow moving shows that focus on character development rarther than explosions and fanservice characters. And "slice of life" is such a silly genre name just call it a bloody drama XD

I enjoy the main character she reminds me of myself at that age. Except the fact i am a guy obviously but sort of wandering around with no real purpose in life so i can relate to her having something to prove to everyone there. I just hope she survives being attacked by that creepy novelist dude lol.

After seeing this show is done by the same people that did Angel Beats! and True Tears, I was super excited to watch it. So far it hasn't disappointed ;D

Can't wait for the next episode!

I agree with you. After Wandering Son I was certain there wouldn't be a good drama based on the 2-3 shows I most looked forward to. This show is really the one that appeals to me most in spring and I love it.

This is on even footing with Nichijou for my favorite of the Spring. This is just one of the best shows that made me go WOW! in the very first episode. The other wow moment this spring was WOW, Dog Days sucks to high heaven! I have the feeling that Grandma... er. Manager didn't immediately defend the novelist because she may have already suspected what Ohana discovered in the trash. This is the moment manager makes him pay then throws him out on his ear for intending to assault the staff.

I gotta say I'm really impressed with the anime so far! The art was really what captivated me, but the story is also quite interesting! Being someone who watches mostly romance animes I can't help but wish Ko makes a comeback somehow but... we'll see how that turns out Ohana is so cute! <3

Putting Gintama aside, this is my #1 for the spring. Love the characters. Hen Zemi is right behind and Nichijou is growing on me. I have high hopes for Oretachi Ni Tsubasa wa Nai and Sket Dance but not expecting too much. They're both a bit too hectic for an episode 1. A Channel and Softeni are for satisfying that moe craving.

Edit: It's also nice to hear Kanae Itou as lead in a serious show.
