I think the reason why Houoiun Kyouma remember things from the previous world is something that Chrono Trigger fans called Time Traveler's immunity. Basically, the time traveler changes the past but retain his memory prior to the change or doesn't get affected by the change. Because Houoiun Kyouma is the cause of many changes in time, he's immune to the changes.

http://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/Time_Traveler%27s_Immunity.html

The reason why I brought this out is because both protagonist from Steins;Gate and Chrono Trigger doesn't seem to be affected by The Grandfather Paradox.

Oh ok, that makes sense.

ALso, Im on episode 8 now, and I have another question. Figured you would know.

They are trying to turn w/e his face is into a girl now. I thought that it would be impossible to even attempt it because the microwave count down represents 1 hour for every 1 second it counts down right? It starts at 120 seconds....yet how in the world is 120 hours going to revert him back to before he was born?

I am obviously missing something here. I am under the impression that you can go only as far back as when you open the microwave and how much time has been counted down from

Edit: Also, one more thing. If they send a text message to the past and it doesnt change anything.....then why are they always in different spots after the text message is sent?

Actually, even if it did affect that individual person....why would the rest of the people be in different poisitions anyway?

I will have to admit I have not actually seen the series. This season started out with me spending a lot of time watching a number of series over at TAN before they expired. As such, I decided to wait until most of the simulcasts were near their conclusion before beginning to watch.

That said, typically in these type of plots, the absolute limit in how far they could send a message back should be when the microwave was first modified. Like you, I do not see how that could accomplish changing someone's sex. Indeed, even if one could travel back in time before a person's conception, changing one's sex would not appear to be an easy task with current technology.

its anime, since when the impossible is impossible? and reason why they can change the past via SMS is probably the person who receive the text. and whenever they choose to do it but like i say, its anime and it will happen-_- somehow.

This is a 24 episodes series so it will continue into summer, which will probably give it plenty of time to wrap things up. Besides the pacing of the plot so far is spot on and very enjoyable. Definitely anime of the season, possibly the year.

Anyway, bumping with some fan art done by yours truly.

Finally finished the latest episode.

Alright I have absolutely no idea of any of the rationale in this show.

Ok in episode 11 when Mayuri and Okabe were walking together and when Mayuri brought up the question about sneding memories back.

She said something along the lines of "If we sent our memories back to 1 week ago, and then relived it, would I be the only one to remember it?" And Okabe said yes. Why did he say that? Maybe I misinterpreted and she only said "If I only send my memories back", then I guess it would make sense. But even then, Okabe has that magic eye Steiner or w/e....so he would of course remember his memories.....but does Mayuri know that? I dont know...and this is a pretty moot point...but its still something I need to figure out.

And I still dont know what happened to the whole 1 second of the microwave is 1 hour in the past. The microwave last time I checked had 3 spaces...so the max is 999 seconds or 999 hours.

Also, about the whole memory sending thing. Lets hypothetically think that every one of them is able to send back their memories. The question I have is....how come when Okabe recieves his memories from the original time into the past....he is ALWAYS standing where he was in the original timeline....yet everybody else is always somewhere else? Now maybe that is entirely due to him remembering his memories....though it still doesnt logically automatically mean he will always be where he is all the time. Also, Im pretty sure if everybody remembered their memories...they would be somewhere else too...just a guess though.

God there are so many things that I wish I knew. I could go look on MAL....but I wouldnt be surprised if there were at least 10+ pages for each episode...and that would take forever.

I guess not to speculation. Who the hell is the athletic girl? She obviously knows something....is she a time traveler? Is she related to John Titor?

And really, when you think about it...the main character is pretty dumb when it comes to him being surprised about the messages he sends back. I mean did you really think that letting a girl who basically runs the city wouldnt have any sort of negative effect if you let her of all people use it? Oh well

Damn I need some answers.

You know what? I wouldnt be surprised if Suzuha was actually from the future. You know how she keeps calling herself a Soldier...and how she keeps checking Okabe to see if anything is wrong with him? Im pretty sure she is doing that to see if he was indoctrinated. She is probably from the Dystopia everybody talks about and was tyring to figure out a way to stop it

2nd Edit: And now I remember why I dont go to MAL...because of all the FUCKING SPOILERS! God dammit

I have 2 theories why Kyouma remembered everything while his friends didn't.

1.) Time Traveler's Immunity. When a time traveler alter the course of history, he'll be unaffected by the change because he just simply displaced to another timeline. In this case, Kyouma altered the course of history via D-Mail and because he's the cause of this time disturbances, he's immune to changes in time. This theory however, will only work if the Grandfather Paradox is not present.

The ChronoCompendium forum Community discussed this issue long ago and I just brought this one out because of the striking similarity between Steins;Gate and Chrono Trigger... The only difference is Chrono Trigger is capable of physical time travel.

2.) The Phone Microwave is like a network device that will transfer Kyouma's memories from one world to another. This theory is weak because I have no evidence to back it up.

Stop the clocks here folks we're gettin' serious.

Damn this show and damn it again for making me laugh one minute and tense the next.

As for the next episode

My memory is quite fuzzy so I'm not sure if this is correct. In earlier episodes, the documents by SERN mentioned that the LHC was operating by itself. It was mentioned in Episode 11 that Okabe's lab is now connected to SERN or the LHC so I believe that Okabe is responsible for the LHC's "self operation."

This show just builds up the tensions so well. From the start, it feels like

And wow, holy shit, things really got tense towards the end.
With this event, expect the show to get more intense and dark.

God damn it, I want the next episode already.

EDIT:
Image you will understand if you see the latest episode.

Then Okabe's comment to Mayuri, "Get to the kitchen!" was funny. I thought of Arnold Schwarzenegger's voice when I heard that.

I'm pretty sure it's just you who thinks that. I even went back and listened to that line, and I have no fucking clue how you could think of Arnold Schwarzenegger listening to that.

I don't think that this will totally be the end for Mayuri for 2 reasons.

1. There was that scene in the very beginning that would indicate that some version of her in some timeline still exists. I know it's kind of fuzzy, but that scene couldn't have already happened in the past, so she must be around in the future.

2. Mayuri is voiced by Hanazawa Kana, who has been getting quite a lot of major parts even though she's only been voice acting for 5 years. Somehow I don't think they would end up giving her a part that only lasts for half of the series.

Arnould Schwarzenegger's famous quote of "Get to the chopper!". It's just a rearrangement of words. That was just my thought at that moment as I wasn't super focused at that point.

As for your other thoughts.

1) I think that is just Okabe's thoughts at that moment. He is delusional so it might be a delusion.

2) Eh, this doesn't sound strong enough to prove it's not the total end of Mayuri but a good theory nonetheless.

I just finished 12. That was the LAST thing I expected to happen. It has been a long time since I've been mind fucked by an anime.

@ChronicAddict - I agree with you for number one. And hell, two sounds alright as well.
