Aya Hirano reported on her Twitter account on Thursday that she has been under orders that prohibit her from acting in new anime since last year. (She does not say who prohibited her, or why.) However, she said that she is thankful to still have some anime roles, since she can still continue acting on series with second seasons or extended runs.

What does CR think about this? No more Haruhi? What will become of the industry? Who will save anime?

Personally I think Haruhi is old now and about time it ended, I'm just waiting for the 10th novel and it will be done. She doesn't really do any other significant roles for me so I'm not toally devastated. Although I hope they find a good replacement to voice Kissshot-Heartunderblade...

EDIT: Errg I durped, meant to say News in the title, if any mods can be bothered please change it and I'll be very grateful.

Wow.

Why in the world would she be prohibited from Voice acting in new anime?

Seems a little too popular to simply just kick her out or something

You'd have to ask her agency why. I guess they don't want her doing that kinda thing anymore. Or they signed some sort of exclusive deal that stops her being in anything else.

I thought I saw something a while ago about her wanting to branch out of the otaku stuff. I'd imagine if anyone prohibited her it would be so she could slowly be weaned off anime roles while getting other jobs. The title was a little misleading though. I came here thinking she was fired.

If there are more Haruhi shows, she will be allowed to do them. She is not prohibited from doing roles that she has already been established in, just new roles. (For instance, she is still doing Maria+Holic Alive and Fairy Tail.)

I think she fails at formulating herself. It's most likely NEW anime offers.

It's probably got to do with the huge otaku back lash against her in Japan. She Openly admitted liking to do sexual things or along those lines and people where so pissed off they broke cd's, figures, dvd's etc, wrote death threat's etc. you get the Idea.

I always think it's sad that Japanese celebrities and idols are held to such high standards by their fans. It's almost strange... it was find for Japanese girls to copy Paris Hilton even though she made and distributed her own porn tape or even Taylor Momsen now, who was on the cover of Japanese Nylon, yet smokes and flashes her breasts in public even though she is a minor. But if a Japanese celebrity so much as drinks under age, admits to dating someone, gets caught smoking one cigarette, makes one inappropriate comment, etc., their fans ditch them entirely. It always makes me to shudder to think of how much pressure long-lasting celebrities like Ayumi Hamasaki must be under just to maintain an image that still appeals to fans, even though the actions that might turn fans against them are age-appropriate and completely within reason.

Considering her revelations about her personal life and that she would like to give up voice acting to go mainstream J-Pop... not much of a surprise she would lose her fanbase. But since she is continuing in ongoing shows (Maria Holic and the never ending Fairy Tale to name a few), it might blow over by then. Her first two mainstream albums debuted at #6 and #4 on the Oricon charts, so taking that route and having to deal with less hardcore fans might be easier for her right now. She's 23, and that's a big time for transitioning into adult life... hopefully thing will work out for her.

Wonder whether she's serious about people preventing her from doing seiyuu roles. But haruhi she can still act. And I highly doubt haruhi is going to end on only volume 10, I mean to aru has 24 volumes al ready and tge author just got lazy for 4 years

It's just how the Japanese are. Idols are marketed in a certain way that makes them seem perfect and pure and when something happens to mess with the image their fans have in their mind they react badly to it and the agencies have to go to great legnths to do damage control like with Ai Kago many years back she was caught underage smoking by a magazine and her agency ordered her under house arrest because she would have been ripped apart by enraged fans if she was in public. It's just crazy. And sexual stuff is a big no no since idols are marketed as virgins who don't have a boyfriend so pervy fans can imagine being their first or whatever.

Ayumi Hamasaki avoided much major fallout through her career though she's not really marketed in a way that makes her seem pure she does sexy photoshoots and stuff. She got in trouble with fans over a couple of things the main one i remember was her telling a fan off for sitting down and not dancing to her songs before realising that fan was in a wheelchair and she'd made a huge mistake. The other stuff mainly revolves around her inability to sing well live leading to talk about her using computers in the studio to sound good and also her apparent plastic surgery. Though no incident has been able to dent her career i guess that's what happens when you are somebody untouchable like Ayumi Hamasaki or Utada Hikaru.

aya hirano wasn't very wise in the sense that she world the "did you cum twice too?" shirt and admitting liking to do sexual stuff and going out with like a 30-40 years old. I'm not sure what her reason for going out with that guy because that's her option to choose, she really shouldn't have worn the shirt(CHECK THE MEANING OF THE SHIRT BEFORE WEARING IT!) and admitting all that stuff, she could've just hid that fact.

but really, why DID she go out iwth some one that much older anyways? if she didn't have anything to hide she could've have just explained it as a misunderstanding or falling in love. I think the real answer will drag her even lower if revealed. but I'm not sure what it is.

oh well just hope she can get back into anime, I want to know who's restricting her from doing new anime voice roles, maybe it's the 30-40 years old(that would make a good story)!? nah.

Well fine then! If those bastards want to can her for living her own damn life, then may be she shouldn't be of service anyways! If they insist on being so picky with their idols, then fuck them!

Even if she's not involved to any scandals or any sort of shit storm, she'll still have less luck looking for a voice acting jobs since the anime industry prefer seiyuu with lower pay than the pricey skilled and experienced professionals.
