Why people care about japan more than Libya ? ? !
Posted 4/7/11
Libya is less important because we don't have much to gain from them by helping them.

Do you mind if I ask a question?

Where is Libya located?

If you're talking about CR, it's because this is CR and Japan is kind of 'our thing'. If you want to bring it up, you are more then welcome to start your own topic ._. . As for 3DPD peeps, remember that people seem to enjoy being as arrogant as they possibly can (or may be that's just a cultural thing here).

Because japan influences the world more, and its like you said, a natural disaster happened, Libya is self inflicted I would say.

Both are important, But japan is more relavent ue the fact that it is a major source of technology and actually pays role in global economy thus america cares more japan since we imports countless items from there...whereis libya doesnt help us nor have any hold of any economic resource

Have you noticed how gas prices have gone up? That's because of Libya. It affects Europe more, but we still feel the effect this side of the pond.

For the original question, I'd say it's mostly due to the Fukushima power plant disaster. That's about 70% of the news you'll here from the media, because telling people they'll all might die from the next Chernobyl increases their number of viewers.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, but I'll answer anyway. It's located in North Africa west of Egypt.

Oh no, I don't have a reason to be sarcastic. I was very serious when I asked where it was located, since I haven't heard about it before now.

because i know some ppl care about jap because of anime things and stuff !
And in Libya its become a bloody hell , and most of the killed are kids =(
well its my opinions after all . What do you thinks ?

Well OP, let's put in it meaningful terms.

After 20 days of asking for handouts from (how many people on crunchyroll?) CR collected 55 000 USD. or about enough to buy a lower end BMW.

That same 55 K represents about half the cost of One of the CHEAPER and LOWER tech ordinances that can be secured to the half dozen or so hardpoints of your typical strike air craft. Which usually fly in at least pairs when they sortie and have sortied how many times against Qaddifi's forces in an effort to protect Civilians? (and coincidentally turning the tide in favour of the rebels due to their biggest problem being a lack of any kind of Anti-Armour Capability. while Colonel Qaddifi's forces have tanks... (old crappy soviet tanks but...) )

In terms of real differences made, dollars spent and lives Risked. The West seems to consider Libya FAR more important than Japan.

that's what I think.

Don't confuse NOISE with meaningful action.

Mind if I ask how my ignorance warrants a facepalm? Or is it that severe? I don't have any particular interest in Libya or Egypt. They will work it out like any other revolution and inner turmoil conflict. I doubt either side can back down (or would want to) and they'd simply refuse to sincerely compromise at this point.

If you look on CNN their covering Libya news rather than Japanese news then again Libya is about the ruler killing his own people while Japan is suffering big time from all the things it happen to them ( The Nuclear Plant is still a big one)

If the level of ignorance that question displayed is common for your region and age group. heaven help us all. I honestly don't know where to begin.

If you don't know what Libya is or who Colonel Qaddifi is ... I...

Never mind.

Speaking of relevance, I believe what is happening in Japan is more relative to the average person than what is happening in Libya. I recall Libya has a small fraction of the oil production in the world, but even that little can affect the market greatly. Surely people would be worried about that. However what is happening in Japan affects plenty of parts of other countries' economies. That is just one aspect, but the big thing is the future of alternative energies with what is happening over there. Plenty of people are worried about what can happen with a nuclear disaster and others are worried about something that could relieve the dependence on oil. Plus, no one has the appetite for war. It is much easier to unite in a humanitarian way because of an earthquake and resulting tsunami than it is to pick a side in a war.
