I watched this show and did a video about it and bought up that I thought the show was like a parody of harems. I've been browsing around the net reading opinions on it and it seems like I am alone in this thought and most people are taking it like it's seriously trying to present 3 different 100% legit not tongue-in-cheek/parody anime harem shows.

I've been off before but I want to know what you guys think. I'll explain why I think this:

1) The structure. It's a guy sitting in a room watching TV and he's changing the channels. I feel like if they [the creators] were taking any of these shows seriously, they actually make them a show or at least structure it so that it's less jarring of a change (like maybe it only changes after the commercial break). To me it felt like this guy is watching tv and when he gets bored, he changes the channel.

2) The actual shows. Most of the shows are just ultra ultra ultra trope filled harems. Trope filled to the point where it came off as exaggerated and over the top to me. When you combine that with #1, I felt like the creators are kinda spoofing what ecchi anime harems have turned in to. Plus...

3) They totally make fun of the tropes. In one scene they've got upskirts of a little girl like you'd see in a standard harem show but then minutes later they turn around and crack a joke about how stuff like that makes the audience pedophiles. There's a scene where a boy and a girl are late to school and their dialog is something along the lines of

boy - "Geez [ridiculous pet nam], you made us late again" *super trope*
girl * with absolutely zero sarcasm in her voice and said in total sincerity* - "I'm sorry I couldn't be the perfect little sister who does chores and wakes you up on time... and I'm actually your cousin so I guess I failed again*

Little things like that made it seem like it was almost a parody or something.

So anyways, am I alone in thinking this?

You are not alone. And with how much this show moves around every 2 minutes, I have no idea what is supposed to be going on half the time. It definitely seems parody like to me. I espiecially like how you threw in that cousin bit

Actually, I think the "mov[ing] around" is for keeping certain characters in mind and explaining their interconnections. They're probably doing that for those characters because the characters introduced at the beginning of this show will start of the medieval arc they keep foreshadowing more and more. They don't want viewers to forget these characters that the show is currently focussed on, nor their relationships (which will probably be comically continued into that medieval arch). At least, that's what I'm predicting from my experiences in anime.

Good analysis. I think that you're probably right about that. Normally my expectations are generally accurate to some degree, but I feel completely lost here. Thanks for the input.

At first I was thinking what kind of show is this (I didn't play the VN, I don't have any ideas about it)
It was confusing at the first episode because there was too many characters and the ED is like, Is this a fantasy?
but after episode six. some parts finally makes sense like the connection of some characters

this is a GREAT series.

i started getting an idea of what was really going on with this show about 4-5 episodes in....

do some reading about disassociative identity disorder and the ISH (inner self helper) and you will get a better idea of what the show is based on.

it's some very high order concepts that the writers are touching on, and i think they have been really successful in this series with transmitting some very positive and interesting concepts.

yes, there is quite a bit of fanservice, but i think it is there to catch the attention of some viewers in hopes they will get into the deeper story.

the animation in this series is AMAZING, some of the best i have ever seen in my nearly 40 years of watching anime -- it's REALLY well done.

overall, i was 100% happy with this series, and it makes me interested in checking out the videogame and VN and other content available from this series!

The series actually isn't too bad. The biggest problem with it is that it takes several episodes before viewers get a mere "hint" at what's going on. About eight or so episodes in, the audience finally realizes what's happening. For the type of show it is, this should've been hinted at a lot sooner. The overall story is well done, I think with a bit more detail in the artwork of the main character's face the audience would've been able to catch on to what was going on a lot sooner. I like twists so I agree that all in all it's a pretty good series.
