Does time really exist?
Posted 4/13/11
i often think about questions like that also but when i think i'm getting to a conclusion i end up confusing myself with more questions lol

In order to answer this question, you must define existance.

Posted 4/13/11
I believe time exists.

People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff.

time is a product of consciousness, we derived it as a way to contemplate the length of our lives, but no time would not exist without us here to measure it.

Since time is a way of measuring events, time exists much in the same way that centimetres or inches exist.

The reason why it got stuck in my head was because I usually don't think of stuff like that so when i heard it i thought about it for abit.
My friend meant that time isn't like an object, its not in front of us so we can't see it, giving the illusion that it doesn't exist but still measures past present and future
My thought was what I said that he meant

No offense but that kinda reasoning doesn't make sense. Bacteria aren't visible to the naked eye, ie. I can't just see them, but I sure as hell am not gonna argue their existence.

Time does exist, but to fully understand it, you need to go to university and study the subject and even then you may only know a little bit about it.

I think, time is created by mankind to calculate and measure how long the day is and etc.

Two things your friend's high as a kite or he's a genius and stumbled upon some physics that will probably be above me.

My simple understanding of time is movement, things always keep moving. They travel distance and you can measure the time it took to get to one point to another using whatever units of measurements you want. So there you go my proof that time exists.

On second thoughts I think your friends an idiot.

Well aren't you a smart cookie for pointing out the obvious. Guess you didn't notice/understand but I did state that 'bacteria' are not visible to the unassisted eye (I had used the term 'naked eye' in my original post). So to spell it out for you it implies a microspcope is required.
