Long distance relationships can work. You have to have a few things near-perfect: communication, trust, honesty, and openness. On top of that, a little positive attitude / optimism goes a long way. You can make it work if you truly care for one another and are determined.

Online relationships? I do not know. I have always thought that it is not a true relationship until you have met in real life, but perhaps that is too harsh a judgement. But as for cultivating it online before meeting, there is nothing wrong with that.

You couldn't have put that any better

Yes they do work, but they are really hard work and involves so much trust.

I know, I have been there and done it.

Just tell them the truth and get it over and done with asap. The longer you leave it, the harder it gets.

Long Distance relationships are hard because it takes actual effort to maintain it, which as you can see the great majority of repliers here are incapable of doing.

Eh, I'm in that situation right now. My bf lives in another city about 90 miles from me. And it's hard We can mostly just talk by phone and see each other on weekends (not every weekend but every other at least). And I've been thinking if this'll ever work, I'm not such a great talker on phone, it's usually just me calling him and asking how his day was, so it's even harder..

But still I think I want to be with him, so it's confusing. But still, I know some people who had a long distance relationship and they're still together. It depends on who you're with. You can't see each other so often and some people can't live with that. And it depends if you really want to be with your bf/gf.

In three days I move to Japan for one year to teach English. My boyfriend of 6-7 years and I will be trying to have a long distance relationship. I am not naive to the possibilities that could arise from a long distance relationship, but we have had long distance between us for 4 months at a time early on in our relationship so 6 months should be... doable.

Here's hoping.

Are you sure your asking in the right place? I'm pretty sure 3/4 of the people in this site never had lovers to begin with.. And I'm 1 of those 3/4 lol, but I'm special!! I never even fell in love lol... I'm the queen of the world!! and no one can share the title, nor strip it from me MUAHAHAHAHAHA
