Question..what material are they going to use? Are they just going to reanimate the whole thing? if they add random shit to it I'm going to be MAD *turns into godzilla and starts terrorizing anime studios in tokyo*

I want this bad! I loved the anime a lot, but the thing is it died before the manga finished thanks to a poorly received filler arc. I for one would love to see a revival ala FMA:Brotherhood, which was an outstanding series, or if nothing else a continuation of the manga from where the series left off. Maybe the original Mangaka Nobuhiro Watsuki would have more time in guiding it too!

I think Kenshin at least deserves a proper ending to the series & not that overly depressing last 2001 OVA, Rurouni Kenshin: Seisōhen (aka Samurai X: Reflection). You only get a poor micro taste of the final manga arc & then gives Kenshin such a downer ending. Watsuki stated that he was unhappy with the results of the OVA, & said that "Kenshin went through so much crap and deserved a happy ending." (which he did in the manga).

On a side note: The AMV Cecilthedarkknight234 linked to used the 1999 OVA Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen (aka Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal) which was also taken from a later part in the manga, but was darker & more serious then the series/manga, but not as bad as the 2001 OVA.

It's been out long enough that there are some people who haven't seen it. I hope they don't make it look to animated. I liked the drawn feeling of the art.

They better make it more seamless than they've made before. I don't like the Dragon Ball Z Kai things happen again.

I think if they stop the anime at the Shishio Makoto arc I'll be happy.

An update to one of my most beloved series of all time??? Im pretty excited especially if they go into the best Arc of the entire show that wasnt covered in the original anime. Nobuhiro Watsuki wanted to end the show when Kenshin said goodbye to Kaoru to go fight Makoto Shishio. I didnt agree and he allowed for the following arcs but never gave his full support so they wernt as good as they could have been. If this ends up a good reboot im gonna be really happy. Rourouni Kenshin is and always will be one of my Top 5 long Anime Series.

I watched the first one, the classic is still the best. The new OVA has condensed alot of the fight scenes to the point that its not exciting, changed the story around, so it doesn't faithfully follow the manga. The animation is beautiful though, but making an OVA to cover the entire Kyoto Arc was a bad idea.

Well they announced a new Kenshin manga series late last year, so it makes sense to make more anime to go with it. Check it out:

http://www.moetron.com/2011/12/26/rurouni-kenshin-new-manga-series-announced/

Problem is the article doesn't say if the new material will be a continuation, or a reboot. Though I'd be surprised if Watsuki-sensei would want to do a reboot of his beloved 28 volume masterpiece.

Whatever the manga ends up being, reboot or continuation, is most likely what the anime will be.

I read/bought all the manga and tried watching the anime both subbed and dubbed.
I just couldn't stomache the changes they made.

If this is another FMA: Brotherhood thing then I'd be up for it.

"Dont fix something that isnt broken"

Having just rewatched it recently, I feel its still one of the top quality animes to this day, even if it was made in poor resolution. A man dosent live in the past, he cherishes it. Spend the time moving on to new things in my opinion, leave this masterpeice alone.

If this is for money, I feel they are wasting effort. Unless all they are doing is remastering the picture quality, It wouldnt even cross my mind to spend a cent, and even then.....

This is a new anime right? Not the terrible terrible remake of the Kyoto saga at 10x speed right?

Please tell me YES!

if you read here here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rurouni_Kenshin#Production

It looks like Watsuki has some things he always wanted to improve on and change in the anime to begin with.

I really hope it wasn't that remake of the kyoto saga you were talking about considering that was my favorite part of Kenshin personally and they butchered the hell out of it. I haven't read the manga but I know Trust/Betrayal OVA followed it faithfully and that was great while the Reflection OVA didn't and that was crap not quite sure about what parts of the anime followed the story and what parts didn't .... it kind of went downhill a bit after the Kyoto saga so ...... maybe that had a lot of parts that didn't follow the manga faithfully as well? I donno

Still if it is a new anime series I AM PSYCHED!!
