As I'm sure most of you have seen, heard, and etc... there have been phenomenal events occurring in the last year or so which have alot of ppl speculating it's the end of life as we know it. Tell me what do you think and why or why not?

I personally am slightly concerned due to the frequent change in climate and how it may or may not relate to some recent disasters.

You would be right to be concerned about climate change as no one really knows what the outcome would be, but everyone agrees it is not going to be good.

As for the end of the world, meh, it's not going to happen anytime soon and if something like a massive astroid did come along and destroy us, the chances are we wouldn't know about it anyone way. Akthough you could guareentee that crazy idiots would be saying the bible predicted this, or yadda yadda predicted this, when it reality it was always going to happen, we just didn't know when and it certainly has nothing religious/super natural about it.

So I wouldnt worry about the end of the world for a few billioon years yet.......... "he says as a huge 100km wide astroid hits the planet" hehehe

the bible specifically says the HUMAN RACE is going to end. not the world.

Well the bible is wrong as this planet is running out of time. Every second we live brings us closer to the end as one day the sun will start to die and slowly expand engulfing the planet. It will happen and there is nothing we can do about it. It just part of the natural cycle of the universe and there is nothing spiritual about it, it is just the way it is.

I'm in angsty, tired mood. so I'll make it brief:

The bible is, for all intent and purposes, a work of fiction. It is objectively fiction, because none of these facts stated within them can be confirmed. Adam and Eve? Evolution. Heaven and Hell are simple moral compasses, and the religious aspects set itself as a function to give people something to believe in.

The human race, at the rate it is going, won't see the end of the world. Or maybe we really will bring about it with our own self-destructive greed.

The Bible is fiction, and so is Twilight. Weird how some of the most popular books (for reasons I can't yet begin to name) end up being hierarchical and ultimately a religion.

Believe what you want, just don't state it as the only rational conclusion. That is like saying "Hey! I'm self-righteous, and there is no way I can be wrong."

Weird stuff happening this year? Sorry to burst your bubble, but 2011 can't top the absolute weirdest year, 1977. Now that was truly the end of the world. Trust me on this, the world ended in 1977.

I actually think the 2012 apocalypse is plausible. just think about it. we've had natural disasters and then disasters because of those natural disasters. earthquakes all over, tsunamis, radiation [result of earthquakes/tsunamis in japan], a lot of apocalyptic scenes where a lot of animals die [birds dropping dead from the sky, fish dead in the river, crabs dead on beaches], etc, so we could just basically have a huge natural disaster which leads to other problems like nuclear power plant spills, panic, whatever.

Earthquakes, Tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and all sort of other natural disasters have been occuring since the earth formed about 4 billion years ago. These are natural events and always will occur. The difference is, today we have technology that can beam pictures from one country to to another country in real time and from any place on the earth. There is also a bigger population of humans in this world today so naturally when things happen, more people die as result of this larger population.

The film 2012 is based on a pole shift, which do naturally occure, but it happens over millions of years and you wouldn't even know it was happening, not in a few days, weeks or months as it happened in the movie with devastating effects.

The other 2012 predicition is from the Mayan calander which is stone disk that gives the dates of astonomical events. It is believe that there are so many ages and when the last age ends, it will be the end of mankind. This calander will end in 2012, but I wouldn't worry about it as most of the fanatasy about it is media griven, or people jumping on the band wagon for their own agendas. Although the calander is very good at predicting astological events.

Saying that, we are currently seeing one of the fastest mass extinctions in history and that is man made, whilst the end may not come 2012, if we continue the way we are, who knows how long the ecosystem will hold out before it completely collapses and takes most if not all of us out.

And how do you work that out? Seeing as I was born in 1975 and today is 2011.
