"But this isn't right!" said a shadowed figure standing up from his seat at the darkened meeting table before continuing, "What you're proposing would be nothing short of catastrophic!"
The figure seated at the head of the table sighed before speaking, "Your concerns are noted, however it changes nothing. Whether you join or not, the rest of the attendees here agree that this is the best course of action." The man steepled his fingers and gazed at the other with a calculating glare.
"Surely you all don't think this way?" pleaded the first man, looking at the other figures seated around the table. The figures looked away and he spat, "Surely one among you must object to this course of action!"
The room went deathly silent as his voice echoed. When it finally stopped the man stepped back from the table. "Very well then. The rest of you can sell your morals and souls to damnation if you want, but I will have no part in this." he said before storming away and yanking open the door to the room.
"You will come to regret your decision, Lord Westfall." said the figure at the head of the table. "I'm sure I will." said Lord Siegfried Westfall as he stepped from the room, the door shutting behind him with a slam

Jade bit her lip as she read the second warning letter from the lenders. If she didn't make the payment in 6 months, her farm would be taken over.
A lump began to form in her throat but she took a deep breath, unwilling to let them beat her . She hadn't given up before and she wasn't going to do so now.
"Ms Jade," A young stable hand knocked on the door to her cottage. "Sue is going into labour"

Jade looked up, swallowing back the lump and nodding, "Y-yes, " she called out, looked at the clock, it was 9 pm. "It's about time,"
"Tell Warrick to be ready in case something happens and make sure the Vet is on alert," she said , getting up and grabbing her shawl.
She wrapped it around her slender shoulders and stepped out into the night.

She entered the barn very quietly, it smelled of disinfectant that had been used to scrub it clean for the mare's delivery. She quickly scanned it make sure the mare had all the necessary things, the clean straw bedding, plenty of quiet and the barn windows open to let in the cool air.

Warrick the head stableman entered and began to prepare the mare for her delivery; gently wrapping up her tail in a soft, clean wrap and using a mild soap to wash her hind quarters; all the while singing soothingly to the fidgety horse, who kept making whiny, nervous sounds at seeing Warrick.

After washing her, he led her to the dry straw bedding and then moved into the dark area of the barn to give her the illusion of being alone.

2 hours later she went into the delivery and Jade watched quietly as the miraculous birthing process began. Some thirty minutes later, the foal was given birth to.

Jade thanked the higher beings for the healthy delivery and watched as Warrick checked the foal for its breathing. "Sturdy little fella,' Warrick whispered proudly. "Just like its mammy at her age,"

She left the barn in Warrick's expert care after making sure both the mare and her foal were in good condition and made her way back to her cottage.

She entered the kitchen and set some coffee on the stove for herself and sat down at the table, feeling exhausted. She looked at the clock and noted it was nearly 1 am.

In the distance she could hear the various night calls of the animals; the landscape dark, only vague silhouettes of the trees and mountains was visible. She could see the ripples of the river under the faint moonlight and her heart twisted with worry. She loved this place so much and she didn't want to lose it. But how would she raise so much money to save it?

“Man , this scene brings back memories. These mountains never really change don´t you think so, Erik, Elijah?” Kayla looked back at her comrades who leaned at a tree. Erik opened one eye and looked annoyed. “Didn´t you say we came here for training and a job of yours? But now you are going sightseeing. By the way: we have never been to Umoba before so how should we know it.”
“Don´t say such things Erik. This place is wonderful, so much nature and little animals. You can train later when Kayla is finished with drifting in the past. She has this look in her eyes.” Elijah nodded at the cliffs where Kayla stood with a smile on her face. Erik grinned. “I´m betting that I can attack her from behind. This time I´ll win.”

Elijah sighed. “Forget it, Erik. I know you are a good fighter but Kayla is out of your league. What does she often say? ´You are hundreds of years too early to win against me`. And also…. ah he doesn´t listen.” Erik took one of his daggers and lunged forward before his brother could stop him.
In an instant Erik laid to Kayla´s feet, a staff beside his head and his dagger in Kayla´s hand. Erik held his head and groaned. “That wasn´t necessary, you old hag, was it?” Another bump on his head.
“You should learn patience, Erik. An enemy might look defenceless but you shouldn´t underestimate him. And it should be very embarrassing for a youngster to be beaten by an old hag.” Kayla turned and laughed. “Come on, Elijah. Your twin needs some rest while we are going to train.”

Early the next morning:

Jade washed up and then tied her hair up into a high pony tail, absentmindedly staring at her reflection in the mirror; dawn was breaking out and already the aroma of food was wafting in from the small cottages built a little distance away from her own.
Many farmers lived with their families onto the land it self, renting out the cottages.

For a moment Jade felt incredibly alone, she had no family and the people who worked for her looked at her as an omnipotent being. Someone they could depend on for work and money. There was no one she could turn to with her fears and anxieties.
She felt her throat constrict, what if the farm was taken away from her? It was all she had left.

She then stood up straighter and put on a smile on her face as she grabbed the basket and left the cottage.

She made her way down the winding path, the crisp morning air doing much to soothe her tense spirits. In the distance she could see the farmers hard at work.
Planting season had begun and work load was increasing.
I'll need to hire more part time workers... She mused as she walked towards the fruit plantations, taking a shortcut through the forest.

"So where is this job whih has brought us here? You can't mean that there is a worth adventure for training. And what are we doing at this farm?" Erik said with an annoyed expression. The three of them had arrived at a small cottage, but unfortunately nobody was at home. No wonder. She must already be on her way to the plantations, Kayla thought without caring about Eriks curses. "We'll wait here till the owner is back. How about a litlle sparing you two?" Kayla said with a smile and the twins nodded in agreement.

Fried walked out of the meeting hall and down to the stables where his aide awaited him. "Hello Milord. How was the meeting?" he asked, already guessing the answer by the dark expression on his liege's face. "As well as can be expected when that blowhard Gideon calls it." said Fried as he accepted his pack from his aide. "That fool means to ruin us all." he said putting on the pack and starting down the road out of Minaga at his usual fast clip. "M-Milord?" stuttered the aide, hopping on his horse and kicking it into a fast trot.

The aide finally caught up with Fried as he rounded a bend in the road, Minaga vanishing from view. "Milord please wait! You're going too fast!" he yelled, his horse at full gallop just to keep up. Fried spared a glance back and replied in a loud voice, "We don't have time to wait around! Our people have to be roused. Gideon is not a man of honor and I don't trust him not to have arranged a surprise on the way back should anyone try to betray him." Fried's aide nodded and spurred his horse to go faster as Fried picked up the pace.

Fried's stride was interrupted by an arrow that whizzed past his head. He dashed off to the side and into the trees as a hail of arrows shot past the spot where he had been not moments before. His aide wasn't as lucky and took two arrows in the arm with the rest turning his horse into a pincushion. The horse fell and landed on the aide, pinning him under it as the archers up the path nocked a fresh volley.

The aide struggled to push the horse off his legs to no avail as the archers fired, the arrows promising certain death. He closed his eyes and braced for impact only to feel a flying sensation. The man opened his eyes and found himself airborne, Fried having dashed from the cover of the brush and lifted the horse before tossing him to safety. He landed on his good arm and winced, turning and finding Fried with his katana drawn, arrows lying scattered around him. "Milord are you hurt?!" called the aide from the side of the road. "I'm fine! Make for West Keep! Tell them to prepare for invasion!" yelled Fried back as he dashed up the road, his katana held in front of himself. The aide nodded and ran off onto the forest, hoping Fried would be alright.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

After sending his aide off, Fried dashed down the path using the forest for cover as the archers continued to use their longbows to try and turn him into a porcupine. He dodged their shots by dashing from cover to cover until he had closed with them.

The archers were dressed in rough clothes but had well-maintained weapons for bandits. The men drew gleaming blades from rough scabbards and charged Fried who held his katana one-handed in a fencing stance before swinging it in a wide arc. Blades of ice formed where the katana passed and shattered outward as the blade finished it's arc, the shards piercing the oncoming men and killing or fatally wounding all but three who had been wearing leather armor.

The men advanced and Fried struck to the left, slicing off one man's arm at the shoulder. The man fell back, clutching the stump and screaming as the other two advanced. Fried parried the first mans strike and kicked him in the knee, shattering it. As the man fell fried slashed his belly open before turning his attention to the last who charged in recklessly swinging his sword, his sanity shattered at the death of his comrades. Fried was more than happy to liberate the man's head from his shoulders and did so, sheathing his blade as the last of the men died.

He looked around and stepped into the forest, stumbling around in a daze as the adrenaline died off and he was forced to remember the arrows sticking from his back and his punctured lung. Fried made it a good distance away from the road before collapsing in a grove next to a well.

"Oh look! Whadda I have here?" a young traveler asked his companion. The rat's nose sniffed the body.

"B-Blood and gory, M-Master," the rat replied.

"Well what are you waiting for? Lift him up and we will bring him to the nearest village," the boy replied good-naturedly.

The rat stared in amazement and suspicion at the boy but quickly averted his glance. With a high shrill, dozens of rats appeared and the unconscious man to the nearest village, the boy strolling behind, his face half hidden in the shadows.

Akira's eyes went wide as an image came to her,she shoot up from the chair she was sitting in and ran out of the room. She tripped over her feet and landed on her face and scrambled to get up again. She got up,her knees were scarped but she didn't care, she kept on running. Akira ran to find the woman, she found her near a well in the temple grounds. The woman looked up as she heard someone running and saw Akira running towards her. "What is it Akira" asked the woman in a worried tone. Akira stopped in front of her catching her breath. The woman waited for her to catch her breath. " I..saw.. someone hurt.. and two other people... "said Akira. The woman looked at her and nodded. "Akira child,I want you to stay here and not go to the village today, okay" said the woman. Akira looked at the woman with what, why not look on her face. "Listen Akira,it won't be safe for you to go there" said the woman. Akira nodded and walked back to the temple with a sad look on her. She wanted to go to the village today since she wanted some candy apples.

Akira blinked and looked around for the voice. "Who,what" said Akira. Her eyes were wide, she stopped dead in her tracks. A gust of wind blew her long blonde hair. She stood in the temple grounds, wondering who he was.

"Over here lady." and a brown haired teenager leapt into view. His hairstyle was what struck Akira as strange. Within that messy short hair was a sharp triangle at each side of his head. It was not very obvious in this bedhead but the light had reflected on his glossy hair and the different shades of brown captivated the young temple girl.

"Say, why not we go out for some fun?"

Akira blinked and stared at him. "Who are you" asked Akira as she stood there, half way to the temple's doors. She had a conflicted look on her face, between going and staying here. Her white dress touched the ground,he noticed that she wasn't wearing clothes that you find people that stay in a temple.

"Ah how ungentlemen of me. My name is Futoshi, Akira-chan," the boy grinned mysteriously. "Isn't it stifling in those robes of yours?"

He glanced at her priest wear. He held out his hand.

"Shall we take flight?"
