"We don't really live anywhere, we travel from one city to another doing random jobs. These two love adventures and piece and I have my hands full with them everyday." Kayla told Jane.
"You seem to be nice to your brothers. You two should be proud to have such an outstanding sister." Jane said witg enthusiasm.
Erik and Elijah looked at each other and then burst out into laughter. Jane raised an eyebrow, confused. She couldn't understand them.
Elijah managed to control himseld at first and explained. "Haha. Kayla may seen to be in her middle-twenties even though she is a bit older," Elijah said gallantly.", but she is definetly not our sister. We rather think of her as a mother, won't you agree Erik?" "Yeah, but when we fight she becomes a monster. You wouldn't guess she can be nice." Erik looked at Kayla as if she was going to become the so-called monster. But sge just sat there and ate her meal.

Akira looked behind her and then at the him. " Let's go" whispered Akira. She couldn't say goodbye to them. Akira could see into the future, some people would ask her what she see in the future for them and sometimes she sees events that will happen. Some were not pleasent, she would end up crying. Akira took hold of his hand, without looking at him. An image came to her mind, she saw the temple on fire, she knew that sometime in the future her home that she knew for awhile will be no more. Her hand accidental squeezed his hand tight with out her knowing.

Demi walked through the winding halls of the old dwarf keep. It was amazing how much children grew and learned given time. She noted a place where the wall had begin to crack and ran a finger down it, repairing it with hardly any effort. It would have been easy to just repair it with her magic without having to look for them, but there was something relaxing about searching for them and fixing them by hand.

She then continued down the dark hallway and stopped before a stone door, which slid open on its own accord, letting her inside. Inside the room set atop a stone pedestal were two swords, one with a black hilt and blade and the other with a pure white one; identical copies of each other save the colors. They were both humming gently as if calling to each other or perhaps to something else.

As always she felt a heavy sweep of energy as she stepped into the room, the power of the swords was astonishing.
She gazed at the swords, for nearly five hundred years the swords had been in her possession and she knew what powerful tools they were, she had seen their power with her own eyes. Her eyes drifted to the black blade. Powerful and deadly.

Night fell in the mountains of Umoba; cloaking the region into darkness.

A young man sat atop a rock, gazing out at the mountains. Some where around here, was the woman he was looking for. The woman who held the secrets that will lead to him fulfilling his destiny.

The night was turning chilly but he barely noticed so engrossed was he in working out his plans.

***
Later that night, Jade jerked awake, her forehead covered in perspiration. She reached over and poured herself a cool drink of water from the jug sitting on her beside table, her hand shaking.
That dream again; she could never remember any of it after she woke up, except for the colors; black and white in stark contrast.
"What does it mean?" Jade murmured, rubbing her forehead.
She had started having those dreams ever since she had turned 18 years old. Initially she had thought it had something to do with her father's death, but lately she wasn't so sure. The dreams were almost prophetic.
She glanced at the clock and it said 2 am.
She lay back slowly staring up at the shadows playing on her ceiling and eventually fell back asleep.

Fried opened his eyes and shot up in bed, wincing as he felt multiple pains in his back. He barely suppressed a moan of pain as he looked around the room and spied his armor and swords. He stood up and got dressed, placing his swords at his side before picking up his money pouch and leaving four gold coins. He was just reaching for the knob when he heard soft footsteps outside.

The healer's assistant opened the door and stepped in, a tray with fresh bandages in one hand. She closed the door and looked towards the bed, gasping in shock at finding it empty. The woman dropped the tray and called for the healer, the old man rushing in and staring dumbfounded. In their confusion, neither saw the patient in question drop silently from his perch above the door frame and slip away.

Long ago in Furen

A young boy stood still, listening for sounds. He heard it then a slight shuffle and then a muffled sob. The boy's expression didn't change as he pressed the knife between his teeth and then began to climb the tree; as silently as death itself.

He swung from one tree to the next, using the wide leaves of the trees as cover.
He landed on a tree branch and looked down at the woman, her face tear streaked as she tried to hide, hoping to evade death.
She was dressed in rags, a slave collar around her neck, just like other slaves she was being used for hunting practice. Sadly, the hunter was him and she would not live for much longer.

The boy landed quietly and the woman turned to look at him, her eyes going wide with fear and panic.
"Please..." she sobbed, falling to her hands and knees. "Spare me,"

The boy didn't blink, begging and pleading, they all did it in the end. He was immune to it.

He raised up his knife and stepped closer when suddenly her eyes went white and her body became rigid.

"The dark path awaits you; the black blade calls for you. Your destiny lies with Noir. " The woman rasped, her fingers digging into the earth as if she was in great pain. " And your destruction lies with the light of Lumiere."

The boy felt a chill looking at the woman, her body was slowly relaxing as she began to come out of her trance. Before she had fully recovered, the boy had slit her throat and ended her life.

He stared at the lifeless body of the woman at his feet. What is Noir...? He wondered.

*****

Present day Umoba.

"Where is it..." the young man muttered, slowly snapping out from the past. He lay back staring up at the star filled sky and closed his eyes as he rested his tired body.

"Didn´t you get enough sleep last night, Jade? You look tired." Jade looked at Elijah, smiling. "No it´s nothing. I just have some bad dreams lately but that´s all ot it. No need to concern with." They sat at the diner table and began their daily duty. They had just finished work in the house and wanted to head towards the plantations when Kayla suddenly stood still and seemed to listen.
"What´s up Kayla?" Both of them asked simultaneous.
Kayla just smiled and said. "Ah, nothing. There´s just some new kid who thinks he can make himself a hero. I´ll be back in a second." With that she went out. Jade asked the twins what was going on. Elijah answered. "We don´t know for sure. Kayla doesn´t intend to tell us about it, but every now and then there comes a fighter who too can summon weapons and challenges her to a fight. After seventeen years we are used to it and she never ever lost a fight. In fact she didn´t even got a scratch." "And that´s why I call her a monster." Erik added. The three of them walked to the window and watched a young man approach Kayla.

Kayla awaited the young Weaper with a welcoming smile but on the same time thought that it´d a meaningless fight like the ones before. She´d felt his coming because of his aura. The boy had long black hair and giant swords in both of his hands. He had the expression of a naive warrior yet to know defeat.
"Are you the Cursed Shimrok? The one who nobody could defeat in over 500 years?" Kayla nodded and the boy, Kayla would say he was nineteen or twenty, grinned arrogantly. "Then prepare for to loose your head today. When I come back with your head I´m going to be the most famous guy in the clan." The Weaper launched forward, starting to attack Kayla which she easily dodged.

The fight went on two hours till Kayla got tired of it. At first she summoned several daggers and swords to frighten her opponent and then wounded him, but not serverly. The woman looked at the sky.
"You know that it´s your fault that I´m now here, don´t you? I could´ve lived a peaceful life in my clan till I retained." She chuckled. "But you know that I prefer some mysteries more than peace. Right, Kyle?"

Futoshi grinned at Akira's tight grip. "there's no need to be afraid. Out there lies a world of opportunities. Your talents are not meant to be shut in. Now let's visit an old friend." He couldn't tell what she was thinking.

And he led her to where Fried's unconscious body was supposedly treated.

Hours later, Akira was made to stand outside the room as Futoshi berated the healer for her carelessness. Resigning to fate, he came out breathing very hard. Akira had never seen such a handsome face contort in so much fury. He looked horribly scary. Even his mousy friend was cowering in the corner.

"Let's get going," he said finally. "someone owe us a debt. Now Akira, can you use your powers to tell me where this ungrateful brat went to?"

The twins finished up quickly, helped Jade wash up then excused themselves.
'Sure you don't want some more pie?" Jade called but the boys were already running out the door.

They found a good spot to observe the fight
She couldn't really see them or perhaps she was pretending not to know they were there. Tthe twins watched keenly as she battled the young man, finally defeating him in a flawless victory.

They watched as Kayla looked up at the sky and said
"You know that it´s your fault that I´m now here, don´t you? I could´ve lived a peaceful life in my clan till I retained." She chuckled. "But you know that I prefer some mysteries more than peace. Right, Kyle?"

"There she goes talking to that person again." Erik said making a face. "Who IS he. She never tells us. Why doesn't she tell us anyway."

"Relax,' Elijah said softly, watching Kayla's face, "She always gets this far away look on her face. I think he maybe someone important from her past."
Erik tskd in annoyance. "But WHO is he. Im gonna find out and this time 'm not letting her avoid the question."

Kayla was waking towards them, "Okay you two," she called. 'I know you're there, come out now."

Erik jumped out with Elijah following behind him, shaking his head.
"So Kayla, who is Kyle?" Erik said.

Akira looked at him for moment without saying a word. "I guess I can try and see what I can get,do you know which way he went" said Akira. she knew who he was talking about but didn't say anything about it. So he does know alot about me like he said, the fact that I can see into the future proves it thought Akira.

"Well my lady," a vein was popping in his forehead. "that would be your job to find right?"

And he watched her reaction. Behind him, the mousy friend was indicating the healer.

"You should ask the people outside," the healer suggested. "They might have seen him,"

Akira sighed and said "fine, but you do know I can only see into the future". She wondered if that was mistake to tell him that, she then closed her eyes, not moving. She was standing very still. She waited and let the images come to her.

Fried approached the border between Umoba and Furen. He knew a lot about the border patrols having talked with the Captain of the Watch over a few drinks. He drew his Katana and walked towards the river, traveling through the underbrush until he reached the bank of the river.

He placed the flat of the blade to the surface and moved it in an arc, a thin sheet of ice forming wherever his blade passed. A few more passes and the ice was half an inch thick and rippled resembling a set of waves frozen in time, He used the tip of the blade to carve a tiny hole in the top before he pushed the section of ice out into the water, sheathing his blade as he entered the water after it.

The guard at the pier snapped to attention as he spied something on the river. He peered at it in the dim plight trying to figure out what it was as it drifted closer on the flow. As it passed he sighed and relaxed, "Nothing but waves... Just my mind playing tricks on me..."

Futoshi glared at the healer. He had not forgiven her carelessness yet.

"Well, what did you see?" he asked Akira, barely keeping the impatience in his tone.

Akira winced. Then, she relayed the images of the escaping man. Futoshi sighed. He motioned to the mousy friend and the mouse pulled Akira's skirt.

"Let's go find a place for the night," it spoke quietly.
