Using your logic everything could have been named differently.
Why isn't it named Air? Why not Green-Blue world?
You live on the ground, on the soil. If we were Amphibian creatures the name of our Earth would have been Water - probably.
Same with Air, if we were flying creatures dominating the sky Earth would have been named Air... maybe.

éra is greek - Germanic people changed it to Ero/Erda/Erdo/Erde later on Eorthe ect. and the Anglo-Saxons "invented" the english language taking "Ertha" with them. Ertha was changed in Earth afterwards.

Oooh, thanks for enlightening me on that, & don't mind Adam, some people consider it a threat when their way of thinking is questioned or proven false. By "some" I mean unfortunately the majority of uneducated people.

I agree though, "Earth" best fits this cosmic blue ball.

noob. is the best fitted name for earth.

Eris. Okay, yeah, I know there's already a (dwarf) planet named Eris, but it sounds better than Earth. They can switch names.

I'm guessing the dude who decided to name Earth was landlocked because this planet has much more water on the surface than dirt.

Have your say. Name your new planet people of CR.

I call dibs on Water. I leave the rest to you.

Earth doesn't mean dry land... As far as humans can trace, the origin of the term we currently call Earth is
derived from a Sumerian word which means "home in the farway". Perhaps you are thinking about the elements of earth, wind, fire, and rain, and how earth usually represents a rock substance.

Also, to be scientifically 'logical'. The Earth comprises of far more solid substance than water. You seem to be judging the representation of the entire planet based off of what the surface is comprised of. To compound matters, your already flawed logic is based off of an improper interpretation of the word 'Earth'.

How about naming it - Douche_central. In hopes that it would convince humans to hurry up and carry on with progression towards a space age so we can get the hell out.

Seriously AdamIdris101, you can't get mad becouse of his fucking opinion about a name that is settled for this world. If you are now so upsessed becouse we reminded you that this world's actuall name is earth, then you REALLY have to cool down.
You just got butt hurt btw.
and no i'm not his friend, i just checked by this forum.

That would be silly. Half of the planets hemisphere is already America. If we are going to name it after a represented location, then what better than...

The United States of Earth. Would be closer to what I assume you were getting at.
