Lol @ Grammar Nazi's

Here is my logic.

Common sense would tell me that I would need to see a show before deciding if I want to buy it or not. So watching a Fansubbed episode or 2 would be able to increase my motivation for buying the anime if I liked it. However this seems hypocritical since i wouldnt be surprised if us gamers out there bought games after seeing a trailer or something. Maybe some gameplay. What do we do for Anime? Well since they have Trailers just like video games do....there really isnt an excuse that we dont buy the anime DVD's. However video games show their gameplay......though it could be considered showing the gameplay during the trailer...however peeps go looking up on Youtube to find the gameplay....where as for Anime we actually watch the show.

Now is it because of the bad economy? Sure I guess somebody could use that reasoning. THough I would have to see what was previously the price of DVD's of an anime series compared to what it is now. Now lets take me for example, I dont ever buy DVD's. Why? Well why would I? I can just watch it online. And if there are extra's from the DVD, that surely would be online as well eventually. And Im certain there are a ton of people out there with my mindset.

Now granted, the lower the price of goods are, the more inclined people would be willing to buy. However in my case, no matter how low you go, I still wouldnt budge when I can simply watch it online. Its also because I dont actually know how to buy anime, but regardless, a lot of people share this mindset.

Now lets talk about the time. Who the hell would want to wait for w/e time it takes for it to get licensed and come to America, when we could simply watch it online.

Bottom line is this. In general, whenever there is a easier way to do something, humans will do it

Yeah subs are for losers who are to lazy to learn Japanese, yet think its cool to act shallow and not watch dubs.

Just Kidding but in all seriousness, if your going to watch a fan sub do realize that most of what is being said in text, is over hyped from what is really being said.

It is a damn shame so many people share your "Values" and "Morals"

Anime should just be produced with quality English subtitles already done, so they can distribute directly from their own houses to whatever country they need to. The Dubbing process is what takes so damn long, and you won't see them dubbing english and japanese casts at the same time unless sales pickup magically.

I am going to make a toast to the industry the day they shut all this piracy down, and laugh my balls off It has to end someday, things can't keep going on like this with Media.

One of the big reasons are probably still the subs. If you buy a DVD/Bluray with english subs they just can't compete with some Fansubs.

Then you may not aware how "dry" alot of anime is speech wise in the original japanese. Subbers have to "spice it up" to make it read well as the show goes on, while at the same time timing it at a rate which flows through the scenes.

Actually it wouldn't change things much if you took down all the streaming. The companies actually do get revenue from legal streams, and it also allows people to try a show first, even if it's just the first four episodes. Which later in turns leads to possible DVD sales.

If the streaming sites went down, people would only look elsewhere for fansubs and illegal uploads of dubs.

This comes as no surprise since we're down two or three major anime distributors and about twice as many manga publishers have bit the dust as well.

You're fairly close on that one. Our North American anime companies are down to FUNimation Entertainment, VIZ Media, Bandai, Nozomi, Media Blasters, and Sentai Filmworks/Section23. Meanwhile, the manga companies now are basically limited to VIZ Media, Yen Press, Seven Seas, Vertical, and Dark Horse.

*raises his hand* With respect, my friend, please don't lump us all together. I, for one, am more than happy to wait until a series is licensed and released domestically so I can purchase it on DVD in order to watch it.

My only real point to this statement is that right now with gas and fuel as high as they are now, not to mention with looming inflation prices, people are rationalizing their expenses. If the economy starts to gain a better outlook, than people will not mind paying the price at the stores. People are now being gaurded with their money.

personally I think we need channels dedicated to anime and a place like akihabara. It would help if people weren't so stubborn about watching certain things due to how they have been raised because if they actually spent a small bit of their time watching a few different types of anime I think they would become fans of it.
It really is a shame that a lot of people don't buy anime because they think it's for children and that they think this because of popular anime like yugioh and pokemon. I think they miss a lot of things that they could enjoy 'cause strangely there are more human emotions in an anime than a live action movie, and sometimes real life.

I take any news about the anime industry with a grain of salt. Yes, it may not be doing a fantastic mind blowing rise to the top, but none-the-less it is still here. Personally, I buy a lot of dvd's based on what I've seen here on CR. I use CR as a guide into what I find I do like and what I do not. The shows that I enjoyed very much are the shows then I seek on dvd. You know the shows that you can watch over and over. So Sometimes you have to wait awhile for a particuliar show to appear on the anime list of whats coming out within the year. sometimes you don't but it does happen.
