If I'm not mistaken OP may be referring to the shutdown of Tokyopop U.S. ( they have the U.S. rights for the manga according to Borders website). As I understand it, it kinda up in the air as to what's going to happen to all the mangas they own rights to cause it is just the U.S. branch that is shutting down (they have other branches in other countries). Hope that helps clear up some of the confusion!
Also, Amazon has pre-orders for vol. 1 in June(or July) and vol. 2 in October. With the shutdown Im not sure if we are still getting these Volumes or not. These dates were posted before Tokyopop announced they were shutting down.

Oh yeah, the manga was licensed by BLU....it was one of the best yaoi publishers here in USA. But this doesn't affect the anime though. Something similar happened with the Viewfinder series but since this title is so popular, another publisher took the rights of the manga. It took a long time but we finally have viewfinder on the stores again....don't know if another publisher will take Junjou Romantica or Sekaiichi Hatsukoi though

I hope there is a season 2 b/c there is no way in hell they can cover all couples without catching up in manga where Takano/Ritsu and actually making some progress in their relationship.

I know that I'm personally hoping to see this series get picked up by Nozomi for DVD distribution, since they also did Junjou Romantica. But as others have said, Studio DEEN isn't going under. A few years ago, they were said to have some financial issues, but I've been unable to confirm that. I'm hoping that, since there's no mention of a season 2 yet, they'll do what also happened with Junjou- take a quarter off, then come back for season 2. It's lining up very similarly in so many ways that I can't rule that out...

Studio DEEN won't shut down, they been producing the best anime released in japan lately so they have no reason to!
Only thing I can think of that is shutting down is the US branches that were planning to release the product to the US (Tokyopop). But even then that happened with the DVD release of Junjou Romantica, Kadokawa Pictures. NOZUMI and RightStuf! Will most likely pick it up since they're pretty much the biggest publishers/resellers for Yaoi and same for BLU as to the Manga
