Historic moment. I wonder how the fire fight went down.

I just hope it'll help in ending the fighting, but somehow I think it'll do nothing but fan the extremist flames. The cycle of hatred is too strong, but I still wait for the day peace will be declared.

And that sounds like a conspiracy theory. We don't have much to go on, besides what we're told. Got any other suggestion besides idle theorizing what really happened? I doubt he is alive, since that would leave the US government as liars and he could easily turn-up as a show of insult.

"Yes I'm dead, which is why I'm here. You christians and your silly government has lied to you." Something like that, but more preachy and fanatical. I'd expect, at the very least.

Well, it's not like there is 100 per cent certainty, that he actually did die either. ..

tests can be faked and all we have is the word of U.S goverment "he is dead". The really suspicious part in this is the burial in the sea, 5? or so hours after his "so called death". Don't really understand if he was dead, why not to leave him in U.S to prove the sceptics wrong?

I have a feeling this ain't the last we're heard of the "truth"

There will be no peace as long as there is single human walking on this earth. True story.

I can understand the burial at sea pretty easily.

If they put him in the ground anywhere it would soon be turned into a Martyr's shrine. This way there is nothing left of him for the next madman to rally around.

Turn him into a footnote and nothing more.

I know it's too idealistic an idea, but we still need to try.

Osama Bin and GONE! Congratulations to the US Forces and USA itself for sweet satisfaction. Families of 9/11 victims are elated I bet.

Oh and about the "conspiracy" that he's not really dead and that US Forces have kept him alive is silly because:

If he were to be kept alive then this would cause his followers to attempt kidnappings and such to bargain his capture. It was the right choice to put a bullet in his head.

First of all, he was buried at sea so that his grave is not made into a pilgrimage site for extremists. Other graves of terrorists have already been set up as shrines to the martyrs, this is something the united states wanted to avoid. Second, the "why was he buried" thing, it is Islamic tradition that the body be buried within 24 hours of the death. If we just kept it in America, can you believe the blowback that would happen? The entire Islamic world would scream at us for breaking the custom of burring a body within 24 hours of his death. He was buried before the 24 hours were up so that islamic extremist groups could not "demand" his body in exchange for the stopping of attacks (which they would increase dramatically until his body was handed over.)

Besides these points is that Obama confirmed it. I know this does not mean it is foolproof, but you are saying that his want for some temporary good news outweighs the chances of it not really being him and getting destroyed. The 2012 election is coming up very soon, and if it was found that he lied about something like this it would absolutely destroy his credibility. All Al-quieda would have to do is make a video of osama saying "haha, not really dead" and they would make America look like fools.

I don't understand people like you. When 9-11 happened you were screaming "why didn't you do anything to stop it?" then when we take steps to avoid terrorist attacks you blame us for lying and conspiring against the world.

You're not. I couldn't care if the guy is alive or not.

What's more, I find it hypocritical and ridiculous that people were immediately and joyously celebrating outside the White House his death. Yeah he was a terrible human but not enough for me to actually celebrate his death. If I did... well that would make me no better than he.

And honestly, those images of "our" people celebrating outside of the White House will be used as propaganda in no time flat. It's embarrassing and I find it sickening.

Note, for those of you who might misinterpret this, I am not sympathizing with him. I just find it highly hypocritical the celebration of his death or anyone's death for that matter. Furthermore, killing him is NOT justice. Letting him rot in a super max prison, however, is; after being judged accordingly through the trial system.

I share your thoughts/feelings exactly! I believe that prison is justice, and that murder is not justified. And that celebrating a human being, no matter how awful the person was, their death.... it's just sickening and wrong. I'm not happy and joyous over violence, death, and war.

i think it's yet to be a real deal since most of his followers are still out there and if truth be told, he wasn't even active for a long time now.
