A lot of people mention how after the 9/11 attack, Al-Qaeda threatened that if Osama was ever captured or killed that would unleash a "nuclear storm" on the USA.

I believe that now that one of their leaders has kicked the can, that they will have to retaliate quickly to boost the morale of their ranks and keep their clan together.

I'm hoping I'm wrong though, or that I die before any of this goes down. Would not be fun to experience the horrifying aftermath of a nuclear war.

Although at the same time I doubt Osama was that active, or as important in the Grand Scheme of things as he used to be. He had to much publicity and people out looking for him to still be the main leader I would think, but ah who knows.

I think he was a figurehead, nothing more, nothing less...

But all in all in this warish world something will strike back, like a cobra...

just be like the mongoose,

aware of the possibilites...

Thats probably the smartest idea, but dont tell them that or they might actually do it because it is a logical idea. Then again our security bureal will probably think up of some kind of counter measure.

Well he was also one of the main funders of the organization.

There is no doubt about it. But it can't be helped

Al-Qaeda seen what we can unleash, and that might make them think twice about pulling any more shit. Should they decide to make a move, so be it, we'll run them down that much harder.

I doubt that will happen. Remember, Al-Qaeda thinks that America is the evil and they are the good which would further reinforce their actions. Osama's death will most likely be a martyr for them.

Nuclear storm? Bring it on, it's more dangerous when he's alive. Now that he's dead they're going to take time to regroup and maybe we can cut the head off that snake.

Organizations like that don't have figureheads. In case they do happen to pull anything off, the US will just retaliate harder.

Woo he's dead, ok, so what now? The retaliation is what I'm more interested in. How long will it take for them to either put something in action or make up a plan? Hopefully they won't attack the Trade Center again, or anybody else.

"Evil" as we are to them, we far outmatch their ability to wage war. We will butcher them wherever we find them, and Osama's death will possibly serve to bring them out into the open. I don't much care for the idea of bringing anyone to justice in this war. There is no justice, only a blood price for incursions upon innocent lives that we lost. Every life of our own will be avenged a million fold.

Fucking kill them all.

You forgot one thing, they blend into society so how are we going to know who's a terrorist or not?

Plus the fact the Al-Qaeda even EXISTS is our fault due to our actions during the cold war. Al-Qaeda was formed due to the fact that the U.S had started building military bases in Saudia Arabia which was home to some of the Islam faith's holiest sites, which enraged them (The people in Al-Qaeda)

Also, Obama?

You talk about butchering them until there is none left, isn't that what they're doing to our troops/innocent civilians that get caught? Us doing that does not make us any better than they are.

Haha! I just made the same error as most have with confusing the names Obama and Osama. Funny coincidence. [edited my first post]

It has gotten so bad that neither side is innocent. This is just one giant pissing contest just as most wars are. We won't enact any policy against people in our society that we perceive as being "extremists" based upon racial profiling, but some idiots might take the law into their own hands, anyways.

This whole thing may end up being a second episode of Manifest Destiny, where holy sites are desecrated and people are killed throughout the Middle East much akin to how Native Americans faced brutal slaughter at the hands of Americans. That is all, of course, in the past, but comparing that to what is possible serves as a good analogy.

I highly doubt that this will be another episode of Manifest Destiny due to the single fact that, we're not in close proximity of the Middle East as we were with North America. (Well because the settlers lived on America) Also due to the fact that not everyone is going to agree with this and that it would severely hurt America's stand in global politics. As soon as America attempts to do a 2nd episode of Manifest Destiny (Assuming it's the Middle East) It has already made itself an enemy against a large chunk of the world.
