Al-Qaeda seen what we can unleash, and that might make them think twice about pulling any more shit. Should they decide to make a move, so be it, we'll run them down that much harder.

I doubt that will happen. Remember, Al-Qaeda thinks that America is the evil and they are the good which would further reinforce their actions. Osama's death will most likely be a martyr for them.

"Evil" as we are to them, we far outmatch their ability to wage war. We will butcher them wherever we find them, and Obama's death will possibly serve to bring them out into the open. I don't much care for the idea of bringing anyone to justice in this war. There is no justice, only a blood price for incursions upon innocent lives that we lost. Every life of our own will be avenged a million fold.

Fucking kill them all.

You forgot one thing, they blend into society so how are we going to know who's a terrorist or not?

Plus the fact the Al-Qaeda even EXISTS is our fault due to our actions during the cold war. Al-Qaeda was formed due to the fact that the U.S had started building military bases in Saudia Arabia which was home to some of the Islam faith's holiest sites, which enraged them (The people in Al-Qaeda)

Also, Obama?

You talk about butchering them until there is none left, isn't that what they're doing to our troops/innocent civilians that get caught? Us doing that does not make us any better than they are.

Haha! I just made the same error as most have with confusing the names Obama and Osama. Funny coincidence. [edited my first post]

It has gotten so bad that neither side is innocent. This is just one giant pissing contest just as most wars are. We won't enact any policy against people in our society that we perceive as being "extremists" based upon racial profiling, but some idiots might take the law into their own hands, anyways.

This whole thing may end up being a second episode of Manifest Destiny, where holy sites are desecrated and people are killed throughout the Middle East much akin to how Native Americans faced brutal slaughter at the hands of Americans. That is all, of course, in the past, but comparing that to what is possible serves as a good analogy.

I highly doubt that this will be another episode of Manifest Destiny due to the single fact that, we're not in close proximity of the Middle East as we were with North America. (Well because the settlers lived on America) Also due to the fact that not everyone is going to agree with this and that it would severely hurt America's stand in global politics. As soon as America attempts to do a 2nd episode of Manifest Destiny (Assuming it's the Middle East) It has already made itself an enemy against a large chunk of the world.

Yup. The world despises us. If they want us gone, they may as well cease conducting business with us and risk having their own companies going under, since so much marketing takes place here. We've wanted to help the world, but she is just to proud to allow anyone to provide aid. Everything we've done has been thrown back in our faces. If it were me, truly, I would have left people to deal with their own devises. Not one bit of aid unless they asked, perhaps even begged for it.

I often think of our own meddling concerning other countries as being "combat practice", but it has been very counterproductive. Still, I think if all else is doomed, we can leave such a crater in our enemies before going down that they might never be the same afterwards.

Though that in itself is just plain reckless. Hell, if the USSR wanted to back in the Cold War, they would've just launched all of their nuclear weapons and we'd all be dead most likely.

bring it on, i am not afraid of with no ability to fight me head on. I am not afraid in the least and I highly doubt al-qaeda will strike back. They just don't have the balls due to fact they were just clipped.

I don't know about nukes... they would probably have to have air conditioners first.

Soviet Russia is still in it, in a manner of speaking. Just like how the Vietnam War is still going, but we essentially lost that conflict due to the fact that Ho Chi Minh and his Viet Cong knew their terrain and what they were doing, plus they didn't fuck around. We do have anti-missile sights set up to defend us against nuclear or non-nuclear ICBM strikes and such, but knowing the nature of war, we'd take casualties anyhow.

Al-Qaeda is just a manner of time. If we ultimately fail to deal with them, someone else, (and I imagine this hypothetically) such as a multinational mercenary force against terrorism, will.

I live in Washington, DC and hearing about the possibility of retaliation is most unsettling. Why just today there were armed police officers guarding the inside of the Metro, something that up until now rarely happened, yet a nuclear strike? I dont know, but I find that unlikely, yet awhile ago they did plan for such a thing by constructing some buildings into fallout shelters.

I went to church for the first time in 3 years. My pastor thinks it's the "end of times," but I just think it's human nature.

I don't doubt they will, but they've lost their main funder, and spiritual leader.
Their moral must be at an all time low.
When they attack, they'll attack angry, and stupid.
It'll give them more of a chance to slip up, easier to be found out.
I'm not too worried.

I think that's up to Al-Qaeda themselves.

I'm not concerned about a retaliation & I'm calling their bluff. My main fear is one simple question - If promoted... will the new leader be more of a vicious tyrant than Osama?

I find it very strange nothing has happened yet. If the UN in Afghanistan can be overrun when a preacher in Florida burns the Qu'ran, I don't know why the death of Usama bin Laden didn't spark immediate protest.

I think something will happen, but not for awhile. Al Qaeda is basically dead now.
