Let's talk about alcohol. Whatever you want.

Here are some questions to start.

1. Do you drink alcohol? Have you tried it yet? Will you drink it, if you haven't?

2. Is there anything morally or ethically wrong about drinking alcohol, in your opinion?

3. Is drinking alcohol healthy or unhealthy? Perhaps certain kinds you think are unhealthy, like liquor, versus healthier red wine?

4. What is moderation to you? What is drinking to excess?

5. Is it wrong or okay for minors to drink a small amount of alcohol, such as wine at dinner with the family once in a while?

If you dislike alcohol, please explain why. Let's get a conversation going.

1. Do you drink alcohol? Have you tried it yet? Will you drink it, if you haven't?

I'm going to drink alcohol when I turn 21. Though I'm planning on making it an infrequent indulgence.

2. Is there anything morally or ethically wrong about drinking alcohol, in your opinion?

Beyond the jerks and idiotics of society abusing alcohol, no not really. I don't see the problem with it long as you keep the amount controlled.

3. Is drinking alcohol healthy or unhealthy? Perhaps certain kinds you think are unhealthy, like liquor, versus healthier red wine?

I'm going to try avoiding making it a regular thing, because all alcohol is bad for you. Even if you mix and thin it with water, it is still unhealthy.

4. What is moderation to you? What is drinking to excess?

Getting drunk every week is excessive. Moderation would be a 1-4/2-6 week wait to get drunk again.

5. Is it wrong or okay for minors to drink a small amount of alcohol, such as wine at dinner with the family once in a while?

It's illegal, but it isn't like a small glass of wine will get teens addicted to it. Hell, the younger they are the more liable they'll spit it out. I don't see the problem, my family doesn't do it but other families do. And, I have absolutely no right to critique how they do things.

I don't hate alcohol, I just hate the excessive and mindless abuse.

1. Now I do. Yes. I just started today. The start of my "Liquor Store Blues"

2. I don't think it is, if you're not ruining your life or anyone else's.

3. Don't know, heard beer every once in a while is good for you too.

4. I have only started drinking to get to the point of being so relaxed that I don't care about being lonely right now, it's gotten a little overwhelming... It's warm and tingly and has really numbed that feeling. We'll see if I have consumed an excess amount in a week or two if my gout comes out.

5. I don't think it's wrong, my Dad used to make me drink sake for good luck on new years. Didn't become an alcoholic after that, plus sake, especially cheap sake Burns like freaking fire.

1. Yes. I had my first drink at a party when I was 15. I used to drink several times a week, but now only on special occasions if at all. Nothing against alcohol itself, I just prefer to eat healthy and beer to me just translates to high calories and bad carbs.

2. Of course there is, particularly when it becomes an addiction, that eventually evolves into a lifestyle where you're physically damaging yourself and emotionally, or even physically hurting the people around you. Granted that's worst case scenario in my opinion, and really only results due to one's own lack of self-control. I don't see much wrong with drinking socially, or even moderately.

3. The average human's liver isn't designed to "like" alcohol. Whether it's unhealthy or not should be pretty obvious, I'd even go so far to say it's a stupid question. Also, it's not the alcohol in red wine that makes it healthy... And even then, how it positively affects your health is greatly exaggerated.

4. Moderation to me is drinking a couple times a week, and knowing your limit and stopping before you reach that limit.

5. Eh... I'm indifferent to this.

1. Do you drink alcohol? Have you tried it yet? Will you drink it, if you haven't?

Yeah, I've partaken of the juice of the barley

2. Is there anything morally or ethically wrong about drinking alcohol, in your opinion?

No, not really. Alcohol does what it does. Its up to the user what he/she does with that.

3. Is drinking alcohol healthy or unhealthy? Perhaps certain kinds you think are unhealthy, like liquor, versus healthier red wine?

Unhealthy (in excess) from what studies show, though I've read red wine or a beer a day can make you live longer.

4. What is moderation to you? What is drinking to excess?

Excess is when you drink so much you black out, doing things that you don't remember.

5. Is it wrong or okay for minors to drink a small amount of alcohol, such as wine at dinner with the family once in a while?
Some people do not need to drink, that is all I'm going to say about that. Yeah, though I'd probably let my kids get a sip of wine before they are legal age, mainly because its just normal, and being able to hold your own drink can be a formidable skill in many a given situation.

Take it for what it is, a fermented beverage; taste great to some, putrid to others. There are social aspects too, but it really depends on where you live. Sure, abuse of it can kill your liver and mess with your state of mind, but only if you let it consume you to that extent. Overall I see alcohol as something to be perfected, an old art form as noble as painting or sculpting. Plus, there's nothing like sitting down to a fifth of scotch with a few buddies around the camp fire.

2. Is there anything morally or ethically wrong about drinking alcohol, in your opinion?

Not for me.. Though when I'm drunk, I flirt with everyone.

3. Is drinking alcohol healthy or unhealthy? Perhaps certain kinds you think are unhealthy, like liquor, versus healthier red wine?

I hear a bit of wine is healthy.
But alcohol in general; No.

4. What is moderation to you? What is drinking to excess?

I'm a social drinker.

1: Yes, I do.
2. No, unless the person does things under the influence of alcohol that are illegal or immoral. Alcohol itself is perfectly fine in my opinion.
3. It depends. Some people claim a glass of red wine a day is healthy, but I've never bought into that. I would say that 99.9% of people don't care about health reasons (as far as calories/carbs/etc. are concerned) when they drink.
4. This is a difficult question for me to answer. I am a seasoned veteran, so moderation and excess mean different things to me than normal people. I will have to go with the textbook answer of 1 drink per hour is moderation, anything beyond that is excess.
5. It depends on what you mean by minor... I don't think it's okay for an 8 year-old to drink, but a 17 year-old? Sure.

1. Do you drink alcohol? Have you tried it yet? Will you drink it, if you haven't?

I drink alcohol.

2. Is there anything morally or ethically wrong about drinking alcohol, in your opinion?

I'm sure many of the religious types will look down upon it. I'm sure those who have decided to lean on all the negative things that have come from alcohol will always berate it. Honestly though, if we did that then the United Stated might as well be look down upon to for all the negative things its done. Me personally, I don't find it wrong so long as its done in moderation and done responsibly (no drinking and drive you tools)

3. Is drinking alcohol healthy or unhealthy? Perhaps certain kinds you think are unhealthy, like liquor, versus healthier red wine?

I honestly don't know whether to believe the health "benefits" of drinking. I say that because the same things they say are found in wine that are healthy for you can also be found in grape juice and other non alcoholic beverages.

4. What is moderation to you? What is drinking to excess?

Moderation is going to be different for everyone. Some people can drink to the high heavens and not really feel the effects while others can take one shot and they're out for the count.

5. Is it wrong or okay for minors to drink a small amount of alcohol, such as wine at dinner with the family once in a while?

If it were my kids, I would say no. They'll learn about that crap when they're older. Until then, follow the rules. The flip side to that is that if you teach them and show them the negatives to overdrinking, while they're young, they'll be less likely to mess up on that when they do enter closer to being old enough to drink.

1. yessum, i drink socially.
2. nope
3. a)alcohol is toxic & can have a detrimental impact on practically all your organ systems.
b) it also predisposes one to secondary health complications.. like cancer.
4. 3-4 drinks/ week max; depleting a 12-pack every night is probably overdoing it
5. that's contingent on the family.

1. Do you drink alcohol? Have you tried it yet? Will you drink it, if you haven't?

Yeah I had my first drink when I was about 14, and when I turned 18 I started going out with friends and getting drunk. I've calmed down a lot now and I prefer to buy 3-4 expensive cocktails and make them last and enjoy the taste.

2. Is there anything morally or ethically wrong about drinking alcohol, in your opinion?

I think its wrong when people do it for the wrong reasons. Drinking is a past-time to relax and socialize, whereas now no socializing is involved at all! People just drink to get hammered which I think is sad.

3. Is drinking alcohol healthy or unhealthy? Perhaps certain kinds you think are unhealthy, like liquor, versus healthier red wine?

Beer is considered healthy in moderation, but its no excuse for its disgusting taste. Ew I hate beer. Red wine is full of antioxidants from the grapes, but why not just eat some grapes? Lol.

4. What is moderation to you? What is drinking to excess?

Drinking to excess is doing it 3 times a week or more and being wasted every time. Moderation is enjoying your drink instead of downing it just for a quick-drunk solution.

5. Is it wrong or okay for minors to drink a small amount of alcohol, such as wine at dinner with the family once in a while?

I'd be a hypocrite to say it is because I've had drinks at a young age with the consent of my parents.

1. Do you drink alcohol? Have you tried it yet? Will you drink it, if you haven't?
Used to, but not anymore, just got bored and tired of feeling like crap the day after. Then having all the other problems of acting like a complete asshole just becase I am drunk. Not good and not clever, most drunk people deserved to be slapped and beaten

2. Is there anything morally or ethically wrong about drinking alcohol, in your opinion?
Not really, in many countries most people drink to be socialable. However when you go to places like the UK, when all people think about is getting wasted at the weeked acting like assholes, girls spreading their legs for all the wrong reasons, the fighting, the general lack of respect, then yeah there is something morally wrong.

3. Is drinking alcohol healthy or unhealthy? Perhaps certain kinds you think are unhealthy, like liquor, versus healthier red wine?
It can be healthy if drunk in moderation, it is believed that a glass (a single glass) of red wine can help reduce colestrol and alcohol thins the blood so it can be healthy. But its when you drink to much and your kidneys get punished and your body suffers then it becomes unhealthy.

4. What is moderation to you? What is drinking to excess?
Moderation is no more than 1 or 2 pints/glasses of beer once every couple of weeks or so for me. Anything that leads to any person acting uncontrolablly, not able to walk properly, not being able to function as a respectable human being is too much. Or nothing more than 4-5 pints in a heavy night.

5. Is it wrong or okay for minors to drink a small amount of alcohol, such as wine at dinner with the family once in a while?
Nothing wrong with a minor drinking a glass with the family on a special occassion, it is when they drink in public with friends it is wrong, as they normally go retarded, then think they are coo and clever, then proceed to start causing trouble and anguish for other people. Alcohol should never be sold to minors, ever.

If you dislike alcohol, please explain why. Let's get a conversation going.

My father was an alcohol and when drinks, he turns into the nastiest person on earth, like when my nan died after her funeral he just went crazy on the drinking and got complete pissed, nasty and vile and just insulted the whole family in a very nasty manner. So not did we have to deal with the emotions of my our nans funeral, we had to deal with that arshole too.

If you can stay away from alcohol as much as you can then do so, if you do drink it, just drink in moderation don't try to be clever and cool, there is nothing clever and cool about being an asshole.

Girls, there is nothing less sexy in this world than a girl with a beer belly (which you can get from any kind of alcoholic drink and not just beer) or being totally pissed with make-up all over the place and barely able to resemble a human. It's disgusting and you have been warned

EDIT: I am not against people drinking, it just so many people today just don't know how to drink or drink responsibly. They just get caught up in the moment with their friends and get hammer.

1. Do you drink alcohol? Have you tried it yet? Will you drink it, if you haven't?
Response: Nope. I accidentally drank one. I was a young kid back then who, one day, was very tired playing basketball. Gatorade wasn't that popular on that time. When I opened the fridge, I thought Budweiser was Diet Cola and hurriedly took a sip.
I didn't like it.

2. Is there anything morally or ethically wrong about drinking alcohol, in your opinion?
Response: Excessive on something is not always good. DUI incidents are good example.

3. Is drinking alcohol healthy or unhealthy? Perhaps certain kinds you think are unhealthy, like liquor, versus healthier red wine?
Response: Well, there are scientific studies that say beer actually helps unclogging arteries; not to mention, beer is a good source of fiber.

4. What is moderation to you? What is drinking to excess?
Response: Excess to me is when you can't make a decisive decision, you're out of balance, and/or emotionally unstable.

5. Is it wrong or okay for minors to drink a small amount of alcohol, such as wine at dinner with the family once in a while?
Response: In my family, my aunts allow some kids and young ones try to taste a strong apple cider. It's the adults responsible how much/sip/drink a minor could take.

If you dislike alcohol, please explain why. Let's get a conversation going.

Response: I don't like drinking alcohol because it reminds me of my father in a bad way.

I drink within my limits. I drink because I like it, I don't drink to impress or to show off or to party. I drink because it tastes good and because I like how giggly I can get. Drinking can be the best thing anyone can do if it's done with in limits. Drinking is not morally wrong, people make it out to be something morally wrong. So there ._.
