1. Do you drink alcohol? Have you tried it yet? Will you drink it, if you haven't?
Yes, I drink alcohol

2. Is there anything morally or ethically wrong about drinking alcohol, in your opinion?
No. The only ethical dilemma comes with drunken behavior, gray rape, consent, driving under the influence, etc. Drinking alcohol in appropriate, responsible moderation has no moral qualms with me.

3. Is drinking alcohol healthy or unhealthy? Perhaps certain kinds you think are unhealthy, like liquor, versus healthier red wine?
In very small amounts, I believe it is healthy. In the amounts most people drink, I think it is unhealthy. I think it's possible that red wine is healthier than say, tequila.

4. What is moderation to you? What is drinking to excess?
Getting drunk is drinking to excess, but getting drunk once a month would be moderation of that activity. Drinking more than two glasses of wine a day every day, perhaps would be excess. Being reasonable and responsible and safe would be moderation.

5. Is it wrong or okay for minors to drink a small amount of alcohol, such as wine at dinner with the family once in a while?
Not in my opinion. It's up to the parents, though. If it's enough to get a minor buzzed or drunk, then yeah, that's probably crossing a line.

If you dislike alcohol, please explain why. Let's get a conversation going.

I like alcohol. It helps with my social anxiety, depression, and nerve pain. I can't drink too much because of my medications and my ulcerative colitis, though.

I drank some a while ago, was with some close friends. I drank alot n got drunk. :P
It felt like a huge burden was lifted. I used to think like 10 sec before any action, thats btw something i dont like about myself.
So we went out to party hard in Amsterdam and I had a great time.
2. Is there anything morally or ethically wrong about drinking alcohol, in your opinion?

Naah i dont believe there is something wrong with drinking alchohol if someone is drunk and annoying that would be my only thing i wouldnt like about it. But thats that, nothing to do about. We only can drink some more to forget about the annoying ones.

3. Is drinking alcohol healthy or unhealthy? Perhaps certain kinds you think are unhealthy, like liquor, versus healthier red wine?

Well acually as many people knows drinking alchohol destroys braincells even the tiny bits of alchohol. But having your braincells refreshed once in a while wouldn't be that bad.

4. What is moderation to you? What is drinking to excess?

Hmmm though one... I think that drinking moderate is drinking enough to Party hard.

5. Is it wrong or okay for minors to drink a small amount of alcohol, such as wine at dinner with the family once in a while?

Mehh im 16 its okay. But i do believe that smaller kids dont even have to think about it.
Btw : Telling kids not to drink acually makes them want to do is because its ''bad ass''. My mom used to let me taste how awefull beer tasted like or wine. Never liked it that much when i was that young.

Did some weeds to btw well it's pretty much the same for me.
I guess ill try a mix up next time.( i live in Amsterdam so it's legal for me.)

Ofcourse if anyone does something like drinking a lot make sure u do it with friends.

Let's talk about alcohol. Whatever you want.

Here are some questions to start.

1. Do you drink alcohol? Have you tried it yet? Will you drink it, if you haven't?

I do not drink alcohol, but I have tried it. I don't plan on making a habit of it though
2. Is there anything morally or ethically wrong about drinking alcohol, in your opinion?
I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with alcohol, but I do think it's wrong if you get drunk. And it's hard to know how far you'd have to go to get drunk, so I think it's just best to avoid it.
3. Is drinking alcohol healthy or unhealthy? Perhaps certain kinds you think are unhealthy, like liquor, versus healthier red wine?
I think alcohol has it medicinal purposes, after all alcohol in is medicine. But there's also the chance of liver disease so...?
4. What is moderation to you? What is drinking to excess?
Like I said getting drunk is definitely excess.
5. Is it wrong or okay for minors to drink a small amount of alcohol, such as wine at dinner with the family once in a while?
I personally don't think it's wrong other than their breaking the law. But there's also a reason why that law was made. I mean it's cool if they just want to have a little wine like you said, but how many people are actually going to do that? Most are going to go much farther than that.
If you dislike alcohol, please explain why. Let's get a conversation going.

*Lock if duplicate* I found similar ones, but not exactly the same.

1. Yes, I drink alcohol.

2. Not really, only thing is that people are not the same. For example, I don't get drunk easy. And because of that, every person who drinks alcohol needs to find their limit so they're not a raging boozer.

3. I think some alcohol is health, whereas some are not. Typically the good-tasting ones tend to be unhealthy (just like candy) whereas the ones that taste like crap are healthy (all in my opinion)

4. I can handle around 12 shots of some alcohol, while maybe 8 for others. Depends on how much alcohol is in the drink.

5. No, it's not wrong. I say this maybe because I'm Armenian? Who knows. Armenian boys are asked if they want cognac, whiskey, etc. during special events (such as a wedding feast, etc. etc.). I remember the first time my dad offered me a cup of cognac and vodka...I was only 14.

I love some alcohol, detest others. For example, I can't get enough whiskey, but I only took one sip of beer and I am keeping my distance away from ALL beers.

Loves: Johnny Walker Whiskey, Hennessy Cognac, John Jameson Whiskey

Likes: Gray Goose Vodka

Dislikes: Any type of Wine

Detest: Beer. Tastes like shit. If two negatives multiplied equal a positive, then beer must taste really good if you're a smoker. (Mud)(Mud) = Good drink (I guess)

Have not tried: Tequilla, and anything else I have not posted in my "Loves, Likes, Dislikes, Detest" sections

I've gotta say.... one thing that does surprise me from all of these posts is how few people actually know that alcohol in moderation is very healthy for you! o_O

It's a lot healthier to have a glass of red wine with dinner or a beer than a can of coke. Yes, alcohol in excess is bad for your liver, but drinking one glass of red wine or 1 - 2 bottles of beer per day helps prevent heart attacks, strokes, coronoray artery disease, a 60% decline in heart disease, it increases your life span (people who drink in moderation have a 20% lower mortality rate than those who abstain from drinking), are less affected by psychological and long-term diseases, and over some odd 120 other ways.

If you want to know more, go here: http://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/AlcoholAndHealth.html

Sure, when you are growing up, they will hound you with pictures of liver cirrosis and blame it all on the alcohol. Just remember when you become an adult to research it for yourself.

As far as even religion is concerned, a lot of people don't understand the background of why certain biblical texts speak the way they do on alcohol. In the Qur'an, alcohol is forbidden even though many Islamic people today actually do drink. Historically, before the Islamic religion existed, Arabic people drank HIGHLY alcoholic beverages extremely often to deal with tribal warfare, prostitution, stress, etc. and it wreaked havoc on the society. Hence the banning of it in the Qur'an. Now in a day when people are more educated to the effects of alcohol, most Muslims either consume alcohol in their own home or even out and about if they are living in non-Islamic countries.

Loves it, but I don't drink to get drunk. Not anymore got that out of my system in my teenage days.

Its true that a glass of red a day can be beneficial to your health as its full of antioxidants, however like everything else an excess of it can be a poison and hazardous to ones health.

1] no, I don't drink alcohol, the reason obviously being that I'm underage. yes, I've tried it, and I don't like it.

2] I do think drinking alcohol is wrong if you get really drunk and use it as a gateway drug or just when you're depressed. it has caused many problems in the past, especially in the US

3] it depends on the person, and how well their body can handle alcohol. obviously, it's unhealthy if you are really young and it's unhealthy if you drink excessively and get drunk a lot.

4] moderation is drinking a little, so that you don't get drunk, none of your senses are impaired, and you are good enough to drive and use common sense and all of the things that you would normally be able to do above the influence. Drinking to excess is when you are dumb drunk, you're all over the place, throwing up, feeling dizzy, and just doing things you shouldn't be, because of the alcohol.

5] yes, I think so. as long as it's a formal event like a wedding or something like that, not at a party.

I personally dislike alcohol and will probably never drink because I just don't like it. It drives people to make foolish decisions, and is causing all sorts of problems. The only type of alcohol that I can allow is red wine, no liquor, whiskey, brandy, or any of that.
