Vista blows. It has too many anti-piracy features.

Blue screen of death is caused by mostly anything. Usually if you currently installed a corrupt software or even just installed a hardware that has a bad driver that makes Windows to halt. Happened to me recently. I installed a XP home edition but it was a bad copy, i thought it was my Coporate edition copy... but its all good now.

I thought to start a thread on this coz i have a question.

Does anyone have vista? if so tell me what you think about it coz im building a new pc .....n thinking of installing it...

and also...does electricity have anything to do with pc completely shutdown turning on by itself ? coz my computer has done it to me trice and its kinda creepy...

the possible reasons that ive thought so far was that.... it could be my modem detected a pulse or friction of electricity? but to me those idea is kinda implausible...

anyone have thoughts on that?....

your power supply may be going, or , your cpu may have voltage regulation issues.

i need you to describe the problem a little more clearly before i can give you an answer for certain.

is it just randomly rebooting, or is it off, and boots on its own?

It bloody boots on its own. like someone turned it on. and its really creepy. coz it happens when im about to go to bed... :P

its prolly the power....id have to change fan too coz its making a noise like its gonna blow up and fall into pieces. and it turns off when it gets hot and i have to turn on my AC everytime it happens.

Hmmmm.....I've had that problem too....I heard that one of the issues is that you have something touching metal or the tower case which would cause that. But I don't know. Mine usually boots up when I turn off or on my desk light. LoL. Or if I push in the tray to my keyboard.

As for the Programs being on a different partition of the HD....Could you not have created a back-up file and burn it off and format and replace the file back on using the back-up? It should work. Unless that is a really huge file after you create your back up.
