Parts of Eden of the East happen in the U.S., particularly in the movie.

Heroman

Where the MC Joey is more cute/pretty than all the main girls.
That's gotta say something about the show.

Eh Stan?

One of the things I really liked about Heroman was that it took place in America. You just get so used to seeing Japanese culture portrayed in anime that you don't really notice it anymore. That was why it was interesting to see an American city portrayed in anime. It's the little things that make the difference. For example: Japanese schools have uniforms and the only lockers are for student's shoes, whereas in Joey's school everyone dresses differently and big lockers line the halls. Also we've become accustomed to seeing trains in anime (they are a much more important mode of transportation in Japan) but in Center City you don't see any trains, just massive multi-lane highways packed with cars. It was the attention to detail and the fact that Joey's home felt so genuinely American that really made Heroman for me.
