maeda can do a better job... but I think the male cast is more important because they are the ones that provide the humor
both maki and ella were not funny... they were just bad

I do not see the necessity of making a remake when a drama is not that old... They should have waited some years later... I doubt it will be as popular as the original.

Maeda Atsuko reveals her “Hana Kimi” look

Previously, we reported that AKB48 member, Maeda Atsuko would star in Fuji TV’s upcoming drama “Hanazakari no Kimitachi e ~Ikemen☆Paradise~ 2011” which will start in July. Recently, her “Hama Kimi” look was revealed.

Since Maeda will be playing a girl who disguises herself as a boy to enter an all boys school, she cut about 5~6 cm of her hair, and will also wear a male student’s school uniform. Maeda said, “I think I will look even more different without make-up. I can’t wait to wear boyish clothes.”

The last time Maeda had hair this short was when she was 15 years old, she said bashfully, “I look totally different from before (when she was 15 years old). Does that mean I’m more mature now?”

she does looks like MAKI in that pic...
but i still don't get it why have a remake .....maybe another season (with same actors) but definitely not a remake
i think it would be very hard to find other actors who could surpass or at least match the acting of the previous cast (just think of Toma's Nakatsu)
my opinion

Yes, they announced it on March, but it seems there isn't any further information yet about it
